Did you know that Barbra Streisand has shipped more albums than any other female artist in the history of the US?

The RIAA notes that Streisand’s cumulative album shipments exceed 71.5 million units in the US. That total resulted from the legendary entertainer’s 33 studio albums, 8 compilations and 7 live albums, all released since the start of her recording career in 1963.

Streisand is currently ranked in 9th place as the only female artist among the RIAA’s top 10 best-selling album acts. In fact, the only other female performers with positions in the top 20 are Madonna at #16 (64 million), Mariah Carey at #17 (63.5 million) and Whitney Houston at #20 (55 million).

To date, Streisand has placed 32 albums in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 – more than any other female artist. She has achieved 43 platinum and multiplatinum albums as well as 51 gold albums in the US.
