Adele and Jessie J dominated the list of 2012 BRIT Awards nominations with 3 nods each and now they have extended their rule to the charts. Impressively, both women have returned to the top of the UK Albums Chart and the Official UK Singles Chart, respectively.
Firstly, Adele’s ’21′ has clocked its 20th nonconsecutive week at the summit of the Albums Chart. The 14x platinum LP, which has sold over 3.86 million copies in the UK, has earned the Soul singer the title of being the artist with the most cumulative weeks at #1 on the lineup.
In addition to the single week that her ’19′ debut album ruled the chart, Adele has scored 21 frames at the summit and matched the totals of Rock bands Queen and Oasis. However, both those groups achieved that cumulative figure with 9 and 8 albums, respectively.
Secondly, Jessie J’s ‘Domino’ has held the lead position on the Singles Chart for 2nd week. The success of the tune has resulted in a resurgence of interest in her ‘Who You Are’ album, which ranked at #10 on the Albums Chart in its 47th week on the listing.
