Burning Up was placed on the back burner during the last two weeks as we dealt with the whirlwind of activity related to the Grammy Awards and the passing of Whitney Houston. However, the feature is back with a bang thanks to a fiery new trio called The Yes Ma’ams!
Secret, Slander and Privacy represent the music industry’s latest attempt to revive the girl group model with their unique brand of sass and sex appeal. These vivacious young women note Prince, TLC, Vanity 6 and the Spice Girls as their biggest influences, all of whom could clearly be discerned from The Yes Ma’ams’ first releases, ‘Only If I Say So’ and ‘Vanessa’.

There is a seductive appeal to The Yes Ma’ams that is difficult to deny. Although they could easily be classed as just another manufactured act, there is no doubt that they have a presence that is instantly captivating. Really, all I need to hear now is a strong vocal performance from The Yes Ma’ams as a group and I would convinced o buy their album – a feat Electrik Red just couldn’t accomplish.
