Fantasia returned to the spotlight at the 2012 Super Bowl Gospel Celebration where she broke into testimony about her own life. However, instead of discussing the trials of her own life during a concert in Chicago last evening, the singer broke down while talking about the passing of another troubled star – Whitney Houston.
Begging the audience to pray for Houston’s family, Fantasia wept as she ended a performance of ‘Even Angels’ from her ‘Back to Me’ album. Fantasia clearly identified with the fallen diva as she was regularly criticised by the media for the occurrences in her personal life.
Watch Fantasia’s moving tribute to Houston below:
Some of what Fantasia is saying has validity in that being in the spotlight has to be difficult the pressure to stay at the top must be weighty. However fans/media spotlight is not all to blame for what happens to celebrities
Let me tell you something Trent.. Yes Whitney had some issues, like we all do. But what do you expect, Whitney was hounded and talked from the day she came on the scene, until she died. They talked about Michael and Whitney for over 30 fu*king, Fantasia my be crazy but she is speaking the truth. Whitney and Michael had to use something to get away from the media that had an obession with them until the day they died. No One knows what the fu*k these two had to go through, but maybe Madonna….. They had extra ordinary lives, who could explained to them how to deal with the level of success they had. NOBOBY…So until we can walk in their shoes…. I really respect what Michael and Whitney did, they made BLACK appeal to the massess, like no other negro artist or White artist could do, so we as Black people own them so much, before Obama and Oprah and others. Michael and Whitney was the first Black people that White people IDOLIZED, so we own much respect to them, and we should salute them on this black history much .
people must take responsibily for their actions whether they be celebrities or not and sometimes that is the problem right there the enablers of celebrities don’t allow them to feel the repurcussions of their actions…..they don’t allow them to be just “regular people”
Correction, I meant NOBODY .. and Over 30 fucking years..
People fell to realize, that it wasn’t ANY black popular stars before Michael and Whitney, no international black stars. So the release black music from being Oppressed (because other White artist, like Elvis stole ALL our music) They were the first black artists to be marketed to the white masses, and the success they had, made it be possible for the other little black artist being shown…
Wow! That was AMAZING! She is right! International star or not people have real lives including Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson! Public and media scrutiny is awful stay prayed up!
