I do think Madonna is in one point of her career where she should reconsider other options/ideas. This is not about putting “expiration dates” on women, is about being who you really are as an artist but as a person as well.

An over 50 year old woman cannot pretend she’s 20 something anymore.
She can still make music, great quality music, without loosing track of who she is.

She better stop competing with the Rihannas and Lady Gagas of this world because if she actually thinks she can still do it… she’s clearly living in the past.
This is a something that I think all divas from the 80s, 90s should take in consideration. Younger generations don’t want another Lady Gaga when they actually have Lady Gaga. You can call Madonna “legendary” or “queen” if you wish, but let’s be real, her “prime” is already gone and most of these kids do not appreciate a lesson on music history because they’re too lazy to care what happened 10-15-20 years ago.

her moves may have been a little been stiff in some parts, but she definitely put on a great show. if you call this embarrassing then every show someone like rihanna has put on is down right horrendous. madonna did a good job. it was not overwhelming but it was alright.
you still have not learnt to separate ‘being honest’ from over exaggeration. calling this embarrassing is ridiculous. what exactly did she do in this show that she hasn’t been doing her whole career. madonna lip syncing is nothing new and she performed how she has been performing over the years :s

THIS WAS A DECENT PERFORMANCE. NOTHING SPECTACULAR BUT DECENT ALL THE SAME. TO CALL THIS EMBARRASSING IS RIDICULOUS.

Why are people criticizing her for lipsyncing? First of all, she doesn’t always lipsync. She usually sings live.
And second of all do you know how many people before her have lipsynced at the Superbowl? TONS! It’s incredibly difficult to hear yourself in stadiums like that. That doesn’t take away from her performance. Michael Jackson lipped his entire show and still managed to put on one of the greatest (if not the greatest) Superbowl halftime shows of all time. Whitney Houston lipped what’s known to be the greatest rendition of the National Anthem. It’s incredibly rare when someone sings live at those things.

Madonna has an undying signature sound. ‘GAYL’ sounds just like ‘Vogue’ which was recorded like 20 years ago!
I like the fact that although she used her guests singers to hype her show, she actually interacted with them, especially Cee-Lo who deserves this kind of treatment.

You got the cheek to chat about Madonna’s “stiff dancing” while stanning for Mariah’s tired and delayed 2 step shuffle and then you come for her lip syncing when Mariah lip syncs standing still and most people do it at the half time show anyway because of the acoustics so deal with it.

Gaga was in the audience so expect some $2.00 reductive knock off that Trent will praise to high heaven soon.

Some of you are buying into to Trent’s opinion that he already had of Madonna he was first to bring up Madonna age and comparing what she did to anything that Mariah could hence hence his commentary throughout and after the performance. Was the show amazing no but surely there was nothing embrassing about it

Smoke and mirrors? All that stuff you mentioned in Madonna’s performance, Janet had too, with the exception of a choir.
It’s true that Janet had the superior show due to her energy. But lets not act like she didn’t have all the bells and whistles as well as a backing track.
Also, from what I hear, Madonna was recovering from a hamstring injury. So either she was being extra careful or she was in agony. I’m not trying to make excuses for her or anything, because she could have been much better. But an injury like that would explain a lot.

I honestly don’t think she meant any harm with the whole “nipple” thing. When she said “You don’t have to show nipples to be interesting” or whatever it was she said, she was answering in the context of which the question was asked. The interviewer pretty much asked her if she was gonna play it safe (in other words, boring) like the other performers or if she was gonna do something “naughty” and exciting like Janet (who didn’t really “plan” anything “naughty”). I took Madonna’s response as saying that she doesn’t intend on being boring or safe and that exposed nipples don’t make for excitement or memorability. That’s just me though. I highly doubt she was trying to demean Janet as a performer or as an artist. And I think people blew it out of proportion because everyone loves a good old fashion diva catfight. Look at her comments on Gaga. Everyone remembers the “reductive” comment. But does anyone remember the praise she gave Gaga’s talent and her connection to the gay community? No. ‘Cause that doesn’t sell or attract hits.
It’s ok to have such high hopes for someone like Madonna. I admit I was tad bit let down, but I still think she did great. And I appreciate your pleasant response as well. =)

I’d 1st like to say that yes it could have been better…I would have like 2 see more choreography but it was not bad or nowhere near it…Bad and embarrassing is Britney VMA 07…this definitely comes nowhere close to that…Trent is obviously bias because he likes Janet…and if Madge was still recovering from the hamstring injury then no wonde she was moving a lil gingerly

Embarassed herself? Did you see last year’s half-time show? It was a disaster. This year’s was great. The only reason why Madonna was a bit off was because she was injured. (And quite frankly I didn’t even really notice it until other people brought it to my attention.) If you even took a second to YouTube her tour footage you’d know that she can still perform just as well as she always has.
