As artists achieve success in the industry their egos grow and that problem is often augmented with rappers. Unfortunately, it appears that the once humble J. Cole has also joined that league of the hypermasculine Hip-Hop acts as she unleashed the self-gratifying ‘Grew Up Fast’ to celebrate his two million followers on Twitter.
J. Cole will launch his ‘Campus Consciousness Spring 2012/The Sideline Story Tour’ with Big K.R.I.T. in April. Hopefully, his tour bus will include an extra room for his ego and newly cocky attitude.
Listen to ‘Grew Up Fast’ below:
Somewhere between J. Cole boasting about the size of a girl’s backside and his metrosexual peers before “halfway homo”/”bitch asses” I completely lost interest in the song. Yes, Hip-Hop is all about ego and expressing dominance but what made J. Cole so interesting was that he wasn’t another cliche. I wonder if he realised that all of his insults easily describe Kanye West.
that gif made my day……………….lmao
We really celebrate twitter followers now? How about you translate that to album sales
I listened to it twice and I still don’t see the purpose of this song. Like really, what is it about?
That Kanye Gif! I’m gonna make that face whenever someone tells me something crazy.
Oh Trent, tell us why U mad lol
I think J.Cole hasn’t found his lane yet, he’s still trying things. He received critical acclaim for his album but he doesn’t have a top10 single yet. He needs to find what works for him, what will bring him critical AND commercial success.
As far as I’m concerned, he’s too cute and clean to be just an underground artist. He has what it takes to be on Drake’s level, he should stop playing it safe and just dive in it. Give us everything, Jermaine!
