After weeks of speculation and hype generated by producer Rico Love, Brandy and Monica have finally debuted their new joint single, ‘All Belongs to Me’. This version of the breakup tune will be included on Monica’s upcoming ‘New Life’ album, which has once again be delayed, this time until April 3rd.
For those who may have forgotten, an alternative version of ‘All Belongs’ will be featured on Brandy’s new album, which will arrive in May. Yet, that shouldn’t stop you from listening to the original arrangement below:
‘All Belongs’ is a solid R&B record and although I fail to hear the Top 40/Mainstream appeal that was promised by Love, the track has a strong chance at excelling on the Urban and Adult Contemporary formats. Of course, Monica certainly needs the tune to be a success since the buzz for her ‘New Life’ project has completely faded.
Regarding the vocal performances, which the eager fans would be excited to compare, both women did a phenomenal job. Brandy’s fluid in runs in her lower register were on point and Monica did great work with the belting.
It was obvious, however, that Monica was given the lead on the song because this is the version that will appear on ‘New Life’. Hence, I am intrigued to hear Brandy’s rearranged record.
