Our predictions about Burning Up artist Emeli Sande were proven correct today when the singer/songwriter soared to the summit of the UK Albums Chart with her ‘Our Version of Events’ debut LP. In fact, she even scored the second fastest-selling album of 2012 to date!
‘Our Version’, which was entirely co-written by Sande, sold over 113K copies this week to become the second fastest-selling album of the year and entered the Albums Chart at #1. Additionally, the record’s third single, ‘Next to Me’, also had a massive debut by starting at #2 on the Official UK Singles Chart.
Meanwhile, while another songbird made a major impact lower on the charts after selling over 200K singles and albums since her untimely passing on February 12th. Whitney Houston’s ‘The Greatest Hits’ reentered the Albums Chart at #7 while ‘The Essential Whitney Houston’ climbed to #40. During the last 7 days, Houston sold over 127K albums in the UK.
On the Singles Chart, 23 of Houston’s songs have reentered the lineup. Among the highest rankers were ‘I Will Always Love Love You’ (#14), ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ (#20), ‘One Moment in Time’ (#40), ‘I Have Nothing’ (#44) and ‘Run to You’ (#67).
