Ready for some refreshing new music? If that’s the case then The Lava Lizard has you covered with this week’s Burning Up artist, RCA recording artist Bei Maejor.

After many years of writing and producing hits for Trey Songz, Monica, Keri Hilson and most recently, Iggy Azalea, Maejor has been inching his way closer to the spotlight. One such move was made when he released his ‘Upscale’ EP earlier this week; a record that has garnered the Grammy Award-nominated Maejor serious attention across the web.

I know what you’re thinking: “this guy reminds me of Drake.” Of course, that conclusion is quite valid because their both have a similar approaches to singing, rapping and using melodies. However, there is an interesting edge to Maejor.

Unlike Drake, Maejor sounds authentic while rapping about his experiences. Honestly, after watching ‘Degrassi’, it’s hard to believe Drake when he talks about “bitches” that he almost had. Maejor, on the other, doesn’t seem to be the product of a carefully constructed media identity.
