    Mariah Carey

Did you know that Mariah Carey’s vocal range exceeds five octaves?

Carey’s live vocal range covers a complete five octaves. In fact, the diva has the ability to sing every note from G#2 to G#7 and she can effectively handle every major female role in choral music – from alto to soprano.

In fact, Carey is known for demonstrating the vast expanse of her vocal range in several of her songs. For instance, her fifth chart-topping single on the Billboard Hot 100, ‘Emotions’, exhibited her singing from C3 to E7 – four octaves and two notes. Additionally, Carey once held the world record for the highest note produced by a human being when she hit G#7 during a performance of ‘Emotions’ at the 1991 MTV VMA.

Watch Carey hit her famous G#7 at the end of this ‘Emotions’ performance below:

    Now you know!

One of the most unique, powerful, rare & beautiful voices I’ve ever heard. Love her.

*HAD the ability. Mariah today is not the Mariah of 95. She’s still a legend though!

@…. nah, she still has the ability to go really low, and really high, but the overall power + clarity is really rough

No she does not. Her voice has really thinned over the years. That 5octave bla bla is gone. I hate how she is so underrated as a songwriter though.

Thats Makael’s baldheaded azz from the Skorpion show talking about some she had. She still has it. Focus on Bey’s basic voice. Looooooool. Things change sometimes. That doesn’t mean that it still can’t be great. Her voice has gotten even better in alot of different areas. Her voice hasn’t thinned too much. If it’s in great condition then it is stellar.

Mariah’s voice has not gotten better. She resorts to backing tracks and studio help. Mariah’s voice hasn’t been the same since 97

    15. DRB says:

Her voice no, but her her range has expanded

Definitely used to. The sad thing about Mariah is her voice is all she got that made her stand out and she ruined that with all the drinking she’s been doing so loosely over the years. And it dont help that she was a smoker in her 20′s too. Sad really.

“Did you know that Mariah Carey’s vocal range exceeds five octaves?”

      G#2 to G#7 = 5 octaves.

How does this article show that her voice exceeds 5 octaves?

Y’all will try to call me a hater, but I really don’t get it.

Trent didn’t mention the range she’s shown in the studio, which extends down to E2 (as far as we know).

      @Kevin lol
