Did you know that Millie Jackson has a song called the ‘Phuck U Symphony’?
Jackson rose to popularity during the 1970s because of her controversial live shows and overtly sexual topics. However, for her 1979 ‘Live & Uncensored’ album in 1979, the Soul music powerhouse performed a jaw-dropping song called the ‘Phuck U Symphony’.
By repeating the phrase “phuck you” – pronounced as “fuck you” – Jackson left the crowd stunned, especially because she arranged the opera-styled ‘Phuck U Symphony’ with a live band. Performances such as these inspired a generation of female entertainers. In fact, Jackson was a mentor to several women in Hip-Hop, including Da Brat, MC Lyte and Roxanne Shante.
