Melanie Fiona still has a few tricks up her sleeve to help ensure that her ‘The MF Life’ album would dodge the ‘sophomore slump’. Indeed, the songstress has longtime friend and for The Renaissance bandmate Drake to write a new song entitled ‘I Been That Girl’.
‘The MF Life’ will hit stores on March 20th. The record also entails her new single, ‘This Time’, which features her Roc Nation partner J. Cole.
Listen to Fiona’s ‘I Been That Girl’ below:
Although it is blatantly obvious that ‘I Been That Girl’ was written by Drake and it could easily be determined that it is just a reworded track that was discarded from his previous projects, it is still a beautiful song. Fiona’s husky lower register has a striking resemblance to Brandy’s voice and she used it well over the mix of live instruments and studio production.
You mean reworded track from one of HIS previous albums? bc if that’s so I agree. It could have been on Take Care. It’s still amazing tho!
this is gonna flop or go gold. cuz this album to me looks like shit.
This song is mad boring, and it just doesn’t give me life. Melanie I love you, but no -__- Drake? Boy bye, like the person above said, it could’ve been on Take care
