Now that Trey Songz has released his new single, ‘Heart Attack’, he has launched his promotional campaign. First on the list was a visit to Power 105.1′s ‘The Breakfast Club’ where the singer spoke about an issue plaguing R&B artists today – adopting Dance/Pop music.
During the ‘Breakfast Club’ sit down, Songz declared that he won’t become a Dance/Pop act. Rather, he wants to achieve crossover success as a core R&B artist, similar to one of his biggest influences, Luther Vandross.
Additionally, Songz also spoke about his experiences with racism as it relates to the tragic Trayvon Martin case. The allegedly unarmed Martin was shot and killed by a Latino man on February 26th.

Now its Luther.. I guess since R. Kelly schooled him and his disrespect towards him. I guess Luther can’t crawl up from grave say BS. It would be best if he leave the influences out. Just do you Boo Boo.
Thats how they always do, when they get out of line & the real great artists lay it flat, they try to switch tunes and claim others as their inspirations. Christina Aguilera did the same thing. Mariah/Whitney have always been her idols and they still are. But now she tries to mention others, which is cool to.
@Theman Christina has Always mentioned older R&B singers before both Whitney and Mariah. We all know and have heard her love for Mariah, she just isn’t vocal about it.
