When the history books are written and people discuss the most brilliant artists of our time, it would be impossible to overlook Missy Elliott. Indeed, this Hip-Hop mastermind has established herself as one of the most important entertainers of the last 25 years.
The moment Missy exploded onto the music scene, she dazzled music fans with her innovative music videos, clever lyrics and groundbreaking productions. In fact, while many of her female Hip-Hop peers were focusing on selling sex, Missy used her artistic vision to change the landscape of the entire industry.
Hence, it is time for Way Back Wednesday to celebrate the genius of Missy. Watch some of her most brilliant productions below:
‘Get Ur Freak On’
‘Hot Boyz (Ft. Nas, Eve & Lil Mo)’
‘Lose Control (Ft. Fatman Scoop & Ciara)’
‘Pass That Dutch’
‘Sock It To Me (Da Brat)’
‘The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)’
‘Work It’
Missy is brilliant on every possible level of artistry and rarely fails to amaze me! There is no telling how she generates her wild ideas but they somehow always work in the most incredible ways.
The music industry desperately needs Missy to return. With the exception of Busta Rhymes and Kanye West, Hip-Hop artists, as well as most performers in general, have become redundant and lazy without any thought toward making stunning visuals. Thus, when Missy finally releases her new album in June, it will be a welcome change from the ordinary!
Yesss LOVE Missy hurry back
Her absence has definitely been felt over the last few years. I love the She’s a Bitch video too
“redundant” lol
oh missy has been missed dearly,
Love this post Missy is in a lane all her own and there will never be another Missy Elliot
Missy is so great. I cannot wait for her return to the music scene. I know that she is going to bring the hotness. I love all the videos here, the creativity in them is bananas. The genius in Missy is how her eccentricity was never forced and she could do fun, exciting videos without any of them coming across as childish; truly a gift. Sock it to Me and Beep Me 911 (which should’ve been included in this post. If you have never seen that video, Trent, you need to get into it) videos are my favorites from her.
I really hope that Missy reunites with Da Brat and Eve. Those were magic collaborations.
I miss Missy so much, she was sooo creative, so artistic… great! Get ur freak on, Work it, Pass that dutch, I’m really hot, Lose control…. Under construction <3 I want Eve come back too…
Nowadays rappers are boring and all the same, I mean Nicki Minaj is cool and I love her rapping… but her music and fashion are not even funny anymore… and all the male rappers wants to be just like Kanye & Jay-Z… Kid Cudi, Drake, J. Cole… no one steps out from that genre…
