Timbaland and Missy Elliott will return to the charts with their new albums later this year. As such, they have begun to do the footwork to get the public ready for their new material. First up was Timbaland, who visited ‘The Breakfast Club’ this morning.
While chatting with the gang of hosts, Timbaland gave an update regarding Elliott’s album, which he confirmed has been completed, and shared his thoughts regarding the possibility of her having a successful comeback. Of course, he made it clear that she has the potential to top the charts again and noted that a collaboration with Nicki Minaj would be ideal for her.
Additionally, Timbaland spoke about the late Aaliyah and speculated about where she would be if she was still alive – the same level as Beyonce. Watch his full ‘Breakfast Club’ interview below:
Great interview…timbaland is very smart
Have we all forgot that Aaliyah was eclipsed by Monica and Brandy throughout the 90s and Aaliyah the album was flopping until she died? Why do ppl put her on some pedestal. Oh yeah because she overflowed her plane.
@Ugh, That comment is the possibly the most ignorant thing I have ever read. If I could I would come through the computer and choke the life out of you.
aaliyah’s album aaliyah, which was released on july 17, 2001 debuted at #2 with sales of 190,000 and was certified gold with sales of 514,000 in 5 weeks. In the album’s 7th week (the week of her death) the album then jumped to #1 with sales of 337,000. how is going gold in 5 weeks flopping? some of u people are so stuck on certain artists that u dont know what a flop album is.
@Ugh Aaliyah inspired Monica & Brandy, you needs to sit down ! Tim is so dope, i’m excited for him & Missy’s comeback !!! It’s about time, need some real hip-hop
@Ugh you are very ignorant Aaliyah’s album was not flopping it had already gone platinum worldwide and Gold in america and it was only out for a month before she died check your facts during the 90′s success wise it’s Brandy, Aaliyah then Monica. Billboard had a list of the most successful r&b artists and Aaliyah was listed higher than Brandy and Monica wasn’t even included. Brandy and Monica even said Aaliyah was their inspiration when they were releasing their debut albums because young artists back in the day were not taken seriously. Pathetic of you to hate on a deceased person
Okay @Ugh take several seats, a notepad and a pen because I am about to school your ignorant ass. How was she eclipsed by them when Aaliyah’s debut outsold Brandy and Monica’s debut? Aaliyah’s Age ain’t nothing but a number has sold over 6 million, Brandy’s debut has sold over 4 million and Monica’s has sold 3 million. Aaliyah’s album debuted at No.3 on the R&B charts, Brandy debuted at No.6 and Monica at No.7. Aaliyah’s second album ‘One in a million’ was listed as one of the greatest albums of the 90′s by Rolling Stones, Brandy & Monica never made that list. She was the only one out of the 3 that managed to remain relevant coming into 2000′s. Brandy and Monica fell off big time and when they came back they’re albums flopped. Like @( .__.) said, Aaliyah was listed higher than Brandy and Monica on Billboards most successful r&b list and she was the only one out of the three to make Billboards decade-end list when she was only alive for 2 years of the past decade so stay mad.
Do you see the truths he spoke about the state of the industry & Aaliyah’s voice. People always wanna speak so idealistically about the deceased. Lets be real. She could sing but her voice was simply light. Nothing bad, just no powerhouse. Beyonce has a stronger voice (& she came a long way too). Its funny to me how unrealistic people can be. & Tim who knows and stans for Aaliyah more than anybody can step back & still speak truth!
@Kendall But he said that if she had been given the time she would have been on Beyonce’s level but her voice just would have been lighter people really underestimate Aaliyah vocally, the girl could belt.
