Beyonce Covers Whitney Houston & Lauryn Hill Revel Beach Comeback Concert

Written by Trent | Filed under Beyonce,Lauryn Hill,Whitney Houston
    Beyonce Revel Beach TheLavaLizard

Beyonce returns at her Revel Beach concert series.

Beyonce sprung back into action at the first show of her Revel Beach comeback concert series at Ovation Hall in Atlantic City last evening! However, instead of repeating her usual setlist, the diva included surprise tributes to Lauryn Hill and the late Whitney Houston.

To honor Houston, Beyonce performed a rendition of the true legend’s ‘I Will Always Love You’ as part of a medley with ‘Halo’. She also sang Lauryn Hill’s ‘Ex-Factor’ before launching into her own emotional song ‘Flaws & All’.

Watch clips from Beyonce’s first Revel Beach show below:

    ‘Run the World (Girls)’

    ‘Freakum Dress’

    ‘Get Me Bodied’

    ‘Crazy in Love’

    ‘Jumpin’ Jumpin”

    ‘Baby Boy’

    ‘Naughty Girl’

    ‘If I Were A Boy’

    ‘Irreplaceable’

    ‘Ex-Factor’

    ‘Flaws & All’

    ’1+1′

    ‘I Will Always Love You’/'Halo’

‘Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)’

This is the Beyonce that we should all celebrate; a diva who allows her talent to speak for itself; no gimmicks, propaganda or psychotic fans to fight her imaginary battles. Before anything else, Beyonce is a brilliant vocalist and she proved that with this show.

Beyonce’s voice is definitely more weighted following her pregnancy but she still manoeuvred well through the music during the live parts of the concert. Yet, is she ready for a new album? Personally, I think it would be too soon for such a venture but that doesn’t mean that she can’t tour throughout the year and develop some original ideas.

What do you think of the pics?

She did an amazing job! One of her best shows! That stage too, wow!

She shouldn’t put an album out until late 2013 at the earliest. She needs to give 4 a chance :)

She was sooooooooooooooooooooo good! I agree that she shouldn’t drop an album this year. She needs tour and make that money!

I just wish she did the full Whitney song though because I know she would have done great! Not better than Whitney but still good!

Am I the only person who noticed that she lipped most of the show and only sang the ballads and ad libs of the uptempos live?

As far as the Whitney tribute goes, she just did OKAY. She tried to do the crescendo like Nippy but she was forcing it. Beyonce’s voice just doesn’t have that natural spark.

      Whitney Houston – The Voice.

@kk OKAY! I know that’s right. This show is CUT AND PASTE Tina. Beyonce, bitch sit down with your fake ass.

Her voice is only getting better with age. The softness of her voice during IWALY was unreal. I wish she would re-record “The Closer I Get To You” or sing it live somewhere, because it would be incredible with her current voice.

Is this what the kids scream about these days? I just don’t see the big deal for Beyonce. She is just okay to me. Nice to see she is back in action but I would gladly go to a Janet show before this “inspired” shit

YASSSS! I enjoyed this show! Beyonce is really good! I can’t wait to see Mariah Carey tonight! Both my faves in one weekend!

I would take Christina Aguilera over this chick any day of the week. Beyonce’s voice is just dull to me. Rihanna has much better music too.

She didn’t even give a natural birth so idk why her voice would change or become weighted

She sounds so damn dry on Ex-Factor. She is like a fuckin robot with no personality man

What time is Mariah performing in Morocco tonight Trent? I wanna watch that

She’s amazing for achieving this and she sounds great but i feel a tad disappointed that she continued the whole show girl vibe with, Baby boy, naughty girl, crazy in love, dance for you, single ladies etc. It doesn’t play to her strength at the moment, dancing for dancing sake is pointless, it has to serve a purpose and some of those routines no longer have any effect on me and others aren’t choreographed to impress. Not saying she shouldn’t perform those songs but she she find different ways of doing so.

More considered songs like ex-factor and a stronger emphasis on musical suprises is what i’m hoping for the future. Less songs on the set list, but each performed to full capacity and meticulously arranged to slay the audience.

But still, I wish i was there! :(

P.S. she needs to understand that sweet dreams is one of her classics and can be performed in soo many ways. I expect to hear it at every concert!

Seen it all before. You could have stayed home and watched her videos instead of paying for that concert. The choreography is the same, it was boring. A year off a team behind her she should have created something new and different other than the outfits and the stage. SN: she is wearing the hip and booty pads well.

Sorry about the lack of commas, it was a Beyonce post I felt that punctuation was not important.

I’m not a fan of her singing ballads. She makes it more about acting and making faces than actually connecting with the music. Flaws and All meant nothing with that performance she gave and she did not do Ex Factor justice. Performing and jiving, she excels but again, there’s only so much of pre-packacked, soap star on stage I can take.

Trent how many ORIGINAL ideas are left? no really, everything under the sun has been DONE…maybe u would like her to record her next album on the moon? all she can do is show case her talents ..and i know no one questioned her vocals after having a baby, thats unreal

lmao @iamdiego !! exactly these are the same ppl who put the site on their big screen tvs and clear out their schedules to watch her vids and post.. i swear beyonce post drive this site forward

WOW! some of you know nothing about the music business, op here pretending u do. Anyone with eyes ans ears can tell you this was a great show. Look at the big picture. She sounded great and manged to all the choreography justice. Some one said she needs to switch up her songs, she did that. some said they want new arrangement’s, she did that! and u still have someone to complain about, As far as im concerned one again B made all the other mainstream artist of taday look bad.

I just saw IWALY & Halo and she sounded fantastic. I’m planning to watch more vids later, but just the ballads I’m not really a fan of her more up tempo songs.

This is my Chick. OMG she just slayed me. I don’t understand people who complain about her doing the same choreography for certain songs, everyone does that. Michael Jackson had a specific choreography for Thriller, Tina had one for Proud Mary…it is a signature. Her concerts are high quality and she gives the audience what they pay for. Go Queen Bey

Is this 2012 or 2009? Because I seriously felt like I was watching a concert from the “Sasha Fierce” era, only a bit slower and less energetic.

As a Beyonce Fan with all the albums and concert DVD’s, She is an amazing performer hands down!!! @jjenn – I agree with you 100000% she needs to stick to Beyonce and just agree to let Whitney Houston be Great.

Beyonce is recording the soundtrack to A star is born, not a new album. Before she starts filming the movie in a few months, I think she should release AN EPIC video for End of time and let it marinate. That song is a certified hit and will definitely revive interest in 4. Shame that Beyonce’s best album is her least successful.

Ex Factor was Awful ..smh … she just sings but doesnt feel what she sings, comes off very archaic and overly trained ..
