Remember back in the 1990s when R&B music was defined by slow grooves and wafting soprano vocals? Well, this week’s Burning Up artist, Chantel, takes us back to those days before that brand of R&B was forced to Adult Contemporary radio.
Reminiscent of a Ashanti and a young Tamia, Chantel’s lyric voice sounds soothing over the production of her new song, ‘Sending My Love (Ft. P2 the LA)’. Listen to singer, who is being guided by noted producer Soundz (Ciara’s ‘Gimme Dat’, Brandy ‘A Capella (Somethings’ Missing)’, Usher ‘Love in This Club Part II’), below:
Let’s do this installment of Burning Up a bit differently. Instead of me telling you why Chantel could be a great artist, I want you to point out her best qualities. Do you think she has potential be a successful act? What are her best qualities? Is there anything about her you don’t like? Share your thoughts below!
What skills?
She is giving me Tamia/LL Cool J teaz and I kinda like it. I need to hear more before I could judge
Damn does a light-skin girl who sing a note or to automatically get promotion….like this just ridiculous.
OMG, Sending My Love is one of my favorite Zhane songs. New artists should never release a cover as their official introductory single. I have no idea of her artistry. She needs to release some original music in order for me to truly rate her. Not to say that it wasn’t a good cover but it’s just not a good introduction to the public.
YES!!!!! More like this and LESS Rita Oral posts………..
