Did you know that today is the 22nd anniversary of Mariah Carey’s debut single, ‘Vision of Love’?
Released on May 15th 1990, ‘Vision of Love’ was the frist song issued from Carey’s self-titled debut album, which was entirely co-written by the diva. The song rocketed to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 and held the top slot for four consecutive weeks as the first of Carey’s 18 #1 singles – the most for any solo artist in history.
Carey scored four consecutive #1 singles on the Hot 100 from her debut album and became the second new act to accomplish that feat, following the Jackson 5. However, many critics still herald ‘Vision of Love’ as one of her signature songs as a modern Pop music standard. In fact, even Beyonce acknowledges the tune as her favourite song of all time and the record that inspired her to sing.
Watch Carey perform ‘Vision of Love’ below:
Mariah deserves so much more respect than she is given if you take into account she could break the beatles #1′s record with her new album most #1′s in pop though there are a bunch of artists in Country Music that have 2&3x more #1 singles than the beatles do
YESSS QUEEN!
OUT OF ALL THE REST, MARIAH CAREY IS THE BEST!!!!!!
The song that inspired everyone.
THE LEGEND
Mariah obrigado por existir…te amo ontem hoje e sempreeee
Mariah is extremely underrated. She is THE icon of our generation. I’m really praying for some solid material on this next record. I love her so I’m really wanting 2012 to be her year. Her voice sounds amazing live so I know she is smashing vocals in the studio!
