Did you know that Aretha Franklin’s most recent #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 was a duet with George Michael?

Franklin and Michael joined forces on ‘I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)’ from the former’s ‘Aretha’ album in 1987. The song topped both the Hot 100 and the Official UK Singles Chart as Franklin’s first #1 hit on the latter tally.

‘I Knew You Were Waiting’ earned Franklin, who Michael credits as his biggest musical influence, her fourteenth of eighteen competitive Grammy Awards, that time for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. Watch the video for the song below:
