It’s a damn shame that Roc Nation is doing more to promote Rita Ora. Seriously, seeing her perform 25 times a week is quite underwhelming. Thankfully, however, the singer’s team secured her a second slot on VEVO Lift UK to address this groos oversight.
Instead of delivering an acoustic set similar to her first VEVO Lift session, Ora hit the stage with her full band as she entertained the small venue. Hopefully, this won’t be the last we see of her for a while because she clearly needs to perform at least 8 times a week without breaks.
Watch Ora on VEVO Lift below:
‘How Right Now’
‘Shine Ya Light’
‘R.I.P.’
‘Roc the Life’
She’s super overexposed and she hasn’t even had a legit hit on her hands or even a song that’s made ppl interested. I can only imagine what they’ll do if she ever scores a big song. And it’s so sad they don’t promo other artist like Melanie Fiona who actually have major talent
Her debut UK single is projected to debut at #1….so whatever they’re doing It seems to be working. She just needs to make a splash In the states which Is why she is on the promo train. I don’t think she’s overexposed…I think the tracks that she released wasn’t her best. I rooting for Rita again as long as she no longer mentions that other pop artist. Excited for her. Trent, stop being shady. If performing 8x a week is what she needs to do then so be it. Roc Nation could’ve put all the promo behind melanie and she still wouldnt have huge sales. Let’s be honest, we love her album but the real album buyers are not going to actually like it. Her singles 4am, Gone & Never Coming back and tje.track with J.Cole are not songs that could be big outside of the Urban world. Melanie is a great.vocalist but I really dont see how Rita-like promo would help her.
Yeah, this is too much. I still like her but she is in too many places at once. Her next thing should be to release Roc the Life as a single, do a video then leave our sight for a week or two. She’s not catching on like RN thought she would but throwing her into people’s faces all the time is not the way to make people like her, it has the opposite effect.
RN needs to hire new promo people because their idea of promo is always one of two extremes, either no promo or too much promo.
@ Aye Britt, She does need to make a splash in the US but her recent performances have all been in the UK. She maybe had one radio appearance in the States if I remember correctly. Because of the internet, people outside the UK can see her performances which is a huge problem because by the time her promo campaign officially hits the US, people will be sick of her. So she needs to appear in the States like right now in order to make a splash.
People need to put the term “over exposed” into context. The people viewing these blogs represent a tiny minority of the record buying public, Her performances have been stretched across various promotional platforms to reach out to a range of different audiences. Jools Holland, Mtv showcase and Vevo are amongst her most recent. Jools is clearly a more mature audience, Vevo is broad and is likely to catch curious youtube users and MTV is stationed more towards the young teens who still watch the channel. Also remember thats she tackling US/UK at the same time with 2 different singles, which means to 2 different vids and promo on each side of the pond (her juice performances for billboard)
Obviously when one blog decides to report on every appearance, even camera phone footage from concerts (say my name cover) and in some cases multiple reports from one showing (jools holland), then of course its gonna seem like overkill.
Her marketing has been appropriate, becauase lets be honest, her music alone ain’t gonna grab your attention. Her team may know this, hence there being no album release date atm.
