If you’re in the mood for some more new music then The Lava Lizard has exactly what you need! Singer-songwriter Jarell Perry is in the spotlight for this week’s Burning Up feature and his talent is guaranteed to catch your attention.

Already on his way to being an industry veteran, Perry is known for co-writing Fat Joe and Chris Brown’s ‘Another Round’, and now his own recording career is gaining momentum. His latest release is ‘If It Ain’t Too Late’, which he crafted alongside instrumentalist Itai Shapira and Adam Berg. Listen to the song below:

Perry is a versatile singer with a voice than can easily applied to various styles of music, including both Pop and R&B. Furthermore, as a songwriter, he has the potential to be a great artist and it’s clear that he has already started to define his own sound; a rarity among new acts.

It would very exciting if Perry explored the sounds of 1960s and 1970s R&B/Soul, such as the work of Al Green and James Brown, for his debut album. I can imagine his debut album sounding similar to Bruno Mars’s ‘Doo-Wops & Hooligans’ but with more vocal weight and a more define R&B slant.
