Lauryn Hill Denies Nicki Minaj Hot 97 Summer Jam Performance

Nas and Lauryn Hill perform at Hot 97 Summer Jam 2012.
After Nicki Minaj decided not to perform at the 2012 Hot 97 Summer Jam concert last evening, she took to Twitter to break the news that Lauryn Hill was one of the acts scheduled to perform with her. Yet, it seems that she confused her stories because the Hip-Hop legend has denied such claims.
Hill took to Twitter to make it very clear that she was never set to perform with Minaj. In fact, as shown during the Hot 97 Summer Jam show, she hit the stage alongside a real MC, Nas, while Minaj was busy posing for pictures at her party with Foxy Brown.
Yet, while thanking Hill for her moment of clarity, Minaj maintained that Hill and Nas would have been a part of her segment of the Hot 97 Summer Jam had Peter Rosenberg not slammed her ringtone ‘Starships’. Read Hill’s comments about the show below:
No disrespect to Nicki, but I need to clear up an inaccuracy. I was not scheduled to be a special guest on her set at Summer Jam, I was invited by Nas to perform with him. I don’t have details on exactly what transpired between the station and the artists, but I do support artists standing by their beliefs, and walking with integrity.
We have to find a better way to commercially exploit music, while giving artists their proper respect. This cannot be done while taking their contributions for granted, or trying to control the scope of their growth and power through threats and fear tactics. We can do better than this, there is a better way, or else ‘we’ (the proverbial we) find ourselves in danger of being hypocrites!!!

Well, since Hill is rarely ever coherent this days and Minaj is known for her inconsistent stories, we might never know how the show would have transpired. However, this could have all been avoided if Minaj would have simply performed and then issed a statement to Rosenberg. She really needs to get her ego in check and just perform for the fans who she claims to love.

So Lauryn has basically called Nicki a liar, Lil Kim exposed her shady ass on the Breakfast Club a few weeks ago, and with this new bitchy attitude of Nicki’s she damn sure won’t get the benefit of the doubt from me.
Rosenberg is being thrown under the bus as a convenient excuse for Nicki not performing. There is definitely more to the story that they’re not telling…

@ naira, Nicki made it seem as though she knew Lauryn and personally invited her to be there. Lauryn is making it clear that she was never contacted by Nicki to perform with her. Lauryn was called by Nas to be a part of his performance. If Nas was a guest of Nicki’s, then he must not have made Lauryn aware of the fact which is why she is saying that she wasn’t a part of Nicki’s set.
Nicki’s fans are so dumb… by pulling out she ones again shits on them and they lap it up. Whoever believed that Lauryn Hill would have been supporting Nicki in the first place needs to drop their delusion filled crack pipe.
I read every last tweet from Nicki and none of it stated that she was performing with Lauryn. She simply tweeted everyone in attendance during the show. Nicki never lied. Damn with these blogs and their half a
a** stories. Everyone just assumed that she was from the list of name. You know what they say about people who assume stuff.
Also from the letter above written by Lauryn, she has respect for nicki. By reading the entire letter and not just nitpicking the parts and writing about to make nicki look bad, Lauryn backs nicki up 100%. Why not write about that? This blog is obviously run by a Kim fan/ nicki hater.
@WOW WOW WOW, she said no disrespect there’s a diference between not disrespecting someone and respecting them… If Lauryn respected Nicki she wouldn’t have wanted to publicly distance herself from her.
it is obvious that LH was not “performing” with NM because the folks that she had on her roster for HER was NOT in attendance, but NAS and LH… so if that is the case why didn’t Foxy, Cam or Beenie Man perform anyways?? maybe because they were apart of her act and as LH said she was apart of NAS act. lets be serious nas is a legend and takes presendence over NM any day… in the end the line up was better without YMCMB… IMO
