Nicki Minaj and her Young Money comrades cancelled their performance at the Hot 97 Summer Jam 2012 concert last evening after host Peter Rosenberg insulted the former’s Pop song ‘Starships’. However, their presence at the show certainly wasn’t missed because true Hip-Hop icons hit the stage – Nas and Lauryn Hill!
Performing songs such as ‘Lost Ones’ and ‘Ready or Not’, the Nas and Hill shocked their fans with a truly legendary set. However, that wasn’t only surprise of the night as J. Cole introduced Trey Songz during his segment for a rendition of ‘Can’t Get Enough’.
Watch Nas, Hill and their younger counterparts in action below. Also, watch Rosenberg diss ‘Starships’ and decide if it was enough for Young Money to abandon their fans:

Peter Rosenberg disses ‘Starships’
When Hill walked onto that Summerjam stage I was literally running around my room screaming. In fact, I was so excited that her rough vocals were easily overlooked. Honestly, to see a real Hip-Hop icon onstage was nothing less than a thrill and along with Nas, she performed classics instead of mindless Pop songs. Yes, that was an insult directed to Minaj and that garbage she calls ‘Starships’.

Nas & Lauryn: such a beautiful moment. Cole and Trey were great.
Rosenberg told no lies when he said that Starships wasn’t hip hop. It’s a dance track, everyone says so. To cancel an entire performance because of such a small thing is ridiculous. I really think that there’s more to the story than that; there has to be. I need someone to spill the real deal.

No one is taking Lauryn’s throne. She did what she did fully clothed, no butt shots!!
