In case you may have forgotten, Nelly Furtado has a new album, ‘The Spirit Indestructible’, on the way. To help remind people of the already struggling record, the sharp-voiced songbird ventured to Paris to perform at Issy les Moulineaux where she debuted its title track.
‘The Spirit Indestructible’ was produced by Darkchild, who also crafted the ill-fated ‘Big Hoops (Bigger the Better)’. Listen to the song below to determine if Furtado finally has a much needed hit:
There is no question that ‘The Spirit Indestructible’ and ‘Big Hoops’ are almost identical but the latter is clearly the stronger of the two songs. In fact, it would have been a better single for this project because of it’s discernable lyrics and frankly less annoying vocals.
Hopefully, Furtado has a plan to salvage this era of her career. It would be such a shame to see such a talented and unique artist face away because of a few misguided decisions. By the way, the repetitive Darkchild has struck again.
You mean: “‘The Spirit Indestructible’ and ‘Big Hoops’ are almost identical but the FORMER is clearly the stronger of the two songs.” and “FADE away”.
Agreed. This is so much better than “Big Hoops”. I could’t get into that song. The lyrics or lack thereof were poor and the song was slightly irritating. I like this song! I hope it only keeps going up from here.
wait, was she just breaking down A-E-I-O-U??
The songs are definitely not identical….both of them are great….
The songs content and sound are completely different. Big Hoops is more of a fun, corky song and The Spirit Indestructible is more meaningful and passionate. Nelly will always be an artist with an unfamiliar sound and she will always represent orginality.
