Frank Ocean certainly has a way with words and that skill has helped him to avoid defining what swarms of bandwagon fans have been assuming: the exact nature of his sexuality. Indeed, despite admitting his love for another man, Ocean has yet to claim the title of gay, bisexual or pansexual, and he continued his clever media manipulation in The Guardian.
Speaking about his decision to reveal his one-time relationship with an unnamed man, Ocean boasted that he as as though a “boulder” has been lifted from his chest. However, to what weight that boulder represented has yet to be made clear. Isn’t Ocean just a crafty lad for toying with people’s inquiring minds?
Read exactly what Ocean said in his interview with The Guardian below:
“I’m happy when I wake up in the morning, and not with this freakin’ boulder on my chest. I wished at 13 there was somebody I looked up to who would have said something like that, who would have been transparent in that way.
I knew that I was writing ['channel ORANGE'] in a way that people would ask questions. I knew that my star was rising, and I knew that if I waited I would always have somebody that I respected be able to encourage me to wait longer, to not say it till who knows when.”
People are just afraid of things too much … Sure, evil exists, extremism exists. Somebody could commit a hate crime and hurt me. But they could do the same just because I’m black. They could do the same just because I’m American.”

So, while several young gay men and the ignorant media have named Ocean as a new champion of the LGBTQI community, he himself has yet to reveal the true nature of his sexuality. Admittedly, this approach is quite clever because he has managed to turn what could have been a devastating situation into an avenue for unwavering media interest. Aretha Franklin and I see what you’re doing, Ocean.
What a loser. Another popstar using and abusing the LGBT community to further their career. A true gay icon >>> Lauryn Hill, Judy Garland, Whitney Houston!
THAT GIF!!! AHAHHAA ”Oh….oh really”
lol, no one is waiting for confirmation. He was attracted to a male, for 99% of people that is confirmation enough.
But I feel the only ppl that actually want him to say are media ppl & blogs. I mean honestly no one cares really anymore were pretty much just into because of th music
Has it ever occurred to you that maybe.. he may want to live outside of those boxes you’re so insistent he puts himself in? He may not be gay, bisexual, or even straight *gasp*! He may just be a human being that loves other human beings. Artists do not have to go into detail and spell out, or justify what’s said or discussed in THEIR art. Get over yourself.
he’s not even a cute gay. who cares
If he was Chris Brown or Trey Songz…or someone sexy…I would care!!! But he’s not, so I don’t! I’m grateful that he has opened a door for the lgbt artisits (especially black gay males) but he is not worth the rave! I’ll hold my breath on MARIO!!! LOL
What’s so ignorant about the media calling him GLBT? Has he not openly expressed his love for another man through that letter and on his album? It’s better than just flat out assuming he’s homosexual without his say…though sometimes if you listen close enough, he shouldn’t have to say it, it should be evident…And he doesn’t have to reveal his sexuality directly to be considered a ‘champ’…it’s his business anyhow but just him admitting he had an affair with a man wasn’t a huge risk?…everyone has their own opinions, I guess

This post is redundant, to say the least.
Firstly, regardless of whether Frank is gay or bi, he is still a member of the LBGT community. That’s what the “B” and the “G” stand for.
Secondly, the “weight of the boulder” you speak of is equally as heavy, regardless whether Frank is gay or bi. What you Trent (of all people…) should know is that homophobia doesn’t distinguish between the two. If you are attracted to or have ever been in a romantic relationship with the same sex then as far as homophobia is concerned, you fall under the same umbrella.
