Did you know that the late Minnie Riperton only scored one gold-certified album in her entire discography?

The Riperton, who was credited as one of the first artists to employ the whistle register in Pop music, only logged one gold album in the US throughout her career. ‘Perfect Angel’, which peaked at #4 on the Billboard 200 when it was released in 1974, was certified gold by the RIAA.

The final single from ‘Perfect Angel’, ‘Lovin’ You’, was also Riperton’s biggest hit on the Billboard Hot 100. Ranked as the 400th #1 song in the history of the chart, the tune was also certified gold by the RIAA. Watch Riperton perform ‘Lovin’ You’ below:
