One of our best received Burning Up artists, Jarell Perry, is back in the spotlight with a new song that proves exactly why his talent deserves recognition. The edgy ‘Healing’ is the latest single from the crooner’s upcoming ‘Simple Things’ EP and it showcases his extensive range.
‘Healing’ was produced by HassyB and in addition to a flurry of high notes, Perry shared some insightful words about the record. ”The message behind ‘Healing’ is pretty universal. I was really inspired by the power someone has to turn your mood or make you feel a certain way just by looking at them. It transcends just the physical part of it. When the connection is right-on, Healing is something you look forward to giving and receiving 24/7.” Isn’t that simply deep?
Listen to Perry’s ‘Healing’ below:
Although I previously suggested that Perry should venture into the lane of 1970s Soul and R&B for his upcoming projects, it is clear that he has the skill to apply his voice to almost any arrangement. ‘Healing’ is a solid effort and it could easily be featured on a full length album.
In fact, Perry should have offered it to Chris Brown for the ‘Fortune’ LP, which was clearly lacking standout records beyond the included uptempo cuts. I sense that Perry is exactly what the R&B genre needs at this moment – an artist to bridge the gap between traditional vocals and the production styles of the modern era.
Great song Trent! Glad to see a brotha with some actual talent up
I like this kind of carrying on. The song is great.
