Sales Predictions: Frank Ocean’s ‘channel ORANGE’ To Land Impressive Debut

Frank Ocean flexible sexuality surely hasn’t dampened his impact on the charts. In fact, the sombre singer-songwriter’s debut album, ‘channel ORANGE’, is on track to enter to the top 10 of the Billboard 200 next week with impressive opening figures.

‘channel ORANGE’ is on track to sell 110K-125K copies in its first week of availability. Surprisingly, the record, which was released seven days ahead of schedule, is currently only available for digital download and won’t be physically available at retail outlets until July 17th.

Thus far, Ocean’s only major media promotion for ‘channel ORANGE’ has been a performance of ‘Bad Religion’ on ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’. Of course, we can’t overlook the whirlwind of publicity that he received from his public revelation regarding his past relationship with another man.

Trini Trent TV recently highlighted Ocean’s actions for the exciting first episode of its new season. Watch that installment of the show below:

i never expected this publicity stunt to work out in his favour. Good for him. I still don’t find him interesting.

Being gay is the new publiity stunt. My tl is filled with overnight Frank Ocean stans.

Those are good numbers, especially for a digital release only so far. But he is going to sale that much due to the controversy. They released it digitally early to capitalize on all of the hoopla. The physical sales are what will really do the job.

@therman actually most sells come digitally ow a days. Not physical.

Wow, good numbers for real!….let’s hope he will make some good choices on the future singles so he can have a longer reign on the charts

Frank Ocean needs to pay Trent homage for the orange theme.

I think it’s a bit ignorant that ppl refer to him as gay when he’s expressed his love for both men and women…he’s bi, NOT GAY. Gay=HOMOsexual and homo=1…BI-sexual means having an attraction towards BOTH men and women once again & BI=2…In other words, totally two different things…just saying

And good for him…it’s refreshing to have a black male mainstream act, especially in his genre, to be open…He’s opening avenues for so many GLBT, underdogs, underrated and ignored talent…like BryN’t or Solomon….

      Proud of Frank! GO HEAD!

@LegallySane Wow, thanks for that clarification! An entire paragraph was needed to explain the difference between homo & bi??? What a waste of a post #Shade
Also its LGBT in case you were not aware.

GLBT LGBT I think they both mean the same thing =+) and I am more than happy to educate those who need to be taught about the GLBT lifestyles…You’re welcome, Playtime is over =+)
