Did you know that Aretha Franklin performed the entire soundtrack of the original ‘Sparkle’ movie?
The soundtrack of the first ‘Sparkle’ film was release in 1976 and all the songs were performed by Franklin. Curtis Mayfield helmed the project by writing and producing the eight tracks, including the breakthrough hit, ‘Something He Can Feel’, which peaked at #28 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The ‘Sparkle’ soundtrack was certified gold by the RIAA in the US and was considered a career revival for Franklin who lacked a hit since her ‘Young, Gifted & Black’ LP in 1972. Watch Franklin perform ‘Something He Can Feel’ below:
