It is no secret that Drake is obsessed with Aaliyah but he has taken things a step further by releasing a new song, ‘Enough Said’, which features the vocals of the late singer. The track was produced on Noah ’40′ Shebib and will reportedly appear on a new Aaliyah album helmed by Drake himself.
Timbaland isn’t too happy about Drake’s aspirations to honor Aaliyah without him but judging by ‘Enough Said’, the project will continue regardless. Listen to the song below and figure out if a new Aaliyah album is a good idea:
‘Enough Said’ is a solid effort but it sounds blatantly similar to almost every song put forward by Drake, particularly ‘Marvin’s Room’. Still, this record reminds us of Aaliyah’s vocal talent and the her distinct tone of her smooth voice.
Ironically, despite Drake’s beliefs that he is a world class vocalist, he and Aaliyah share a key similarity – neither will be remembered for amazing singing. Rather, they have very pleasant vocal tones that suit their music.
YOU DUMB FUCK TRENT,WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU SHADING A DEAD PERSON? AALIYAH MIGHT HAVE NOT HAD A ‘DISTINCTIVE TONE” BUT SHE WAS A MASTER OF HER CRAFT. YOUR REMARKS ON AALIYAH ARE NOT CUTE AT ALL.
WOULD YOU LIKE IT IF I SAID MARIAH ISN’T REMEMBERED AFTER ONE SWEET DAY AND SHES A FLOP BITCH??
YOU WILL BURN IN HELL BITCH,
He’s not shading Aaliyah. She was not an amazing singer. She had a pretty voice. The end.
Songs alrite/ will probably grow on me, not liking the Aaliyah shade
@R1hbaby you need to sit your ass down idiot! no one is shading Aaliyah you are just creating non-existent problem!
this track is sikkkk!! the beat, Aaliyahs lower register! Feeling it!
I hate what Drake did, he needs to leave Aaliyah and her legacy alone!
I’ve never been a fan of a deceased artist music being released after his/her death. As a fan, you want to continue to hear unreleased music but this just seems like its more about the $$$$. I hope Drake donates the sales to charity.
FUCK TRENT AND FUCK HIS MINIONS, WHY SHADE A WOMEN THAT HAS BEEN DEAD FOR A LONG TIME? AALIYAH MAY YOU REST IN PEACE. GUYS TRENT STILL SHADES WHITNEY HOUSTON,HE IS A LOW LIFE SCUM BAG THAT DESERVES A DEATH SENTENCE, FUCKING TROLL
@R1hbaby, there is always someone on every blog that shows his/her level of ignorance. You my friend just took home the gold, congratulations.
I don’t really get it. This song doesn’t really work with those two on it as it seems they are talking about two different things. Aaliyah’s voice as usual is something special. I think the production is a bit of a let down. Aaliyah’s voice is light and breezy and would have benefited from less heavy sounding percussion. A few sharper percussive instruments such as cabassa, high hat and a sharper snare would have gone down so well, making it sound more akin to her last video “Rock the Boat”.
Oh well, can’t condemn Drake for honouring her memory.
R1hbaby – Calm down and please grow up!
Drake shouldn’t have done this, he should have got approval from Missy and Timbaland instead of being disrespectful. I doubt Aaliyah would have wanted this.
Errrr he didnt ‘shade’ Aaliyah 0_0… he just said her tone of voice makes her unique which is true and why I like Aaliyah so much
FUCK Y’ALL AND KISS MINE AND RIHANNA’S ASS, GOD PLEASE PUNISH THEM ALL.
I don’t think Trent intentionally meant 2 shade Aaliyah but I just think he needs 2 word his sentences in a better way
@R1hbaby You need to take several breaths, step away from the computer and go for a walk or do yoga to cleanse your mind because clearly you need it.
I can accept the opinion that Aaliyah was not considered an outstanding vocalist but to compare her vocal talent to that of Drake’s is blasphemy, leading me to wonder whether Trent knows anything about music/singing outside of Mariah.
Aaliyah had several strong vocal performances and was particularly strong in live performances. (See “The One I Gave My Heart To”, “Journey to the Past” etc.)
Aaliyah was one of the rare vocalists that possessed the ability of power in her voice but was able to restrict herself when recording. The pure tone of her voice was enough to make a good record.
Good to hear Babygirl’s voice again, regardless of what Drake does or doesn’t do.
…although I gotta say, prolly woulda been better if Tim produced it. And wtf is Drake tryna rap about? Doesn’t suit Aaliyah’s melody.
DRAKE IS AN IDIOT!!! HOW CAN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN! NEW ARTISTS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO DO CERTAIN THINGS TO MUSIC ICONS THAT HAVE PASSED!!! DRAKE NEEDS TO BE STOPPED!
He didn’t shade Aaliyah. Can anyone honestly say she was an amazing SINGER? Thought not. Her music was good though.
Anyway, the song is okay but Drake should leave her alone. It’s bad enough that he’s acting on his obsession but then to not get approval for Tim and Missy? That’s a bit disrespectful.
It’s good to hear Aaliyah again…Trent is right to a degree o_o, despite what Aaliyah was capable of people will always remember her for her soft smooth tone
Drake isnt doing any thing magnificent with this record. He has no idea what direction Aaliyah wouldve gone with her music today. He can be a STAN all he wants but this is disrespectful to Aaliyah’s close friends Missy & Timbaland who said they dont like his idea.
Aaliyah sung well in my opinion and.that last paragraph of this article was shady ESPECIALLY since Aaliyah had way more talent than Drake vocally. So I.can see why R1baby is upset.
Anyhow this track is just ok.
Aaliyah had a unique and amazing voice. The production is cute however Drake participating in producing the prothemus album is not really getting me hyped. I prefer the people who knows her music in the true essence that it was. But her vocals and singing >>>>>>>>>>>
im not a fan of this song but trent did not shade her yeah she had some cute songs and she worked with she had but she was not an amazing vocalist she was okay
Its just so good to hear aaliyah after a long time, im enjoying the song,
If “Wheelchair Jimmy” had done his research.. he would have known the “legacy” of Aaliyah music. Instead of using this opportunity for his own selfish diss game. He should have rekindle what so many of us fell in love with. Her unique vocals. This is why music is in the state it is because “certain people” think that everyone will love whatever “BS” they put out. Now Aaliyah legacy has been downgraded to controversial diss rap in which she had no say so and would have never agree upon.
Drake…NO.
that is so wrong, Aaliyah could sing, don’t compare her to that dumbass drake, he shouldn’t even be touching her music. this song is a mess. stupid ass irritates me, i hate him !
Trent out of ALL people I would think you would know not compare Drake to Aaliyah vocally smh, but anyway I liked the track. Yes Aaliyah wasn’t the most amazing singer but she was still good, she had a beautiful & unique tone which worked well with her production.
Aaliyah may not of been an Aretha, Whitney or Patti LaBelle but she did have a good voice and actually she WAS remembered for her singing as well as her image..people have always spoken about her sweet, smooth vocals it’s one of the biggest things that set her a part from the other singers that were around when she first got started and even now in her death.
Listen to her songs: At Your Best (original version), Street Thing, The One I Gave My Heart To, Never Givin’ Up, I Care 4 U and even Journey To The Past .. what was good about Aaliyah is the fact that she never over did her vocals on her songs, she knew what worked for her and made that an advantage.. to even put a comparison in there between her and Drake is ridiculous because even though there are some songs where he uses his singing voice, he is more known for being the rapper so of course he wouldn’t really be remembered if he passed for his singing..
I’m just saying, Trent you need to learn how to word yourself a little bit better and watch how you throw in those comparisons..
This song is actually good, for a lot of us..whether you’re a “big fan” of Aaliyah or just a moderate listener of her music it’s so good hearing her voice again..especially with unreleased vocals from her, it helps to keep her out there with the changing music world and shows why she IS still relevant to this day..
I like this…it gives me an old school vibe, and Aaliyah’s vocals are smooth and soothing. I agree with Trent to the extent she’s not really remembered for powerhouse vocals, but she is remembered for her softness in her voice and songs alike…She is the angel of Urban Pop…There’s only a handful of singers that had a soft voice and managed to have Aaliyah’s success or more…and the only singer I can think of is Janet
She will always be remembered…I think ppl are a little to sensitive when it comes to Aaliyah and hypocrites…Anyways, I like that fact too it wasn’t produced by Tim yet it rang true to Aaliyah and Drake..nice collabo

Love Aaliyah but thers’s a disconnect in the subject matter. His lyrics don”t fit her vibe.Would like to hear a complete song with Aaliyah alone.

Trent you know not everyone has to hit notes like mariah, aretha or whitney to be considered a great singer. I actually like when mariah keeps her vocals at bay and sings in that soft angelic tone, much like Aaliyah. Also for you to compare drake and Aaliyah vocally is a mess and kinda shocking coming from you. Drake can’t sing(studio mechanics is not singing) period. While Aaliyah on the other hand had a great voice…Have you seen her oscar performance? its great.

TRENT IS PATHETIC FOR SAYING WHAT HE SAID, HE MUST STILL BE BITTER FROM THAT FLOP MARIAH CAREY RELEASED TO THE MASSES…….. WHILE YOU SO WORRIED ABOUT AALIYAH BEING REMEMBERED YOU NEED TO WORRY ABOUT MARIAH’S LEGACY CAUSE IT’S FADING WITH THESE TRASH ASS SONGS SHE’S BEEN RELEASING P.S I LOVE THE RECORD 40 PRODUCED THE HELL OUT OF IT & DRAKE DISSED THE HELL OUTTA CHRIS BROWN… GOOD JOB GUYS…. & RIP BABYGIRL
I love Trent, but that is disrespect.
You ended your review with a Aaliyah/Drake vocal similarity. Drake is not a singer, not a vocalist, he will not be remembered because he has maybe 1 octave…he has no range and always sings flat and at times nasally. There is no emotion in his voice.
Aaliyah ‘s voice is more then “a very pleasant vocal tones that suit their music”. She was a really good singer. She sang acapella and sang a larger range then Drake, Ciara, Janet, Amerie, etc any light vocalist. She sung well in her lower register and had a great falsetto and could easily transition between the two.
She was timid and young. That’s why those disgusting Aaliyah /Beyonce debates make no sense because people are comparing Beyonce’s vocals throughout her 20s to Aaliyah live performances when she was 15 and 19. Aaliyah was not a powerhouse but girls of the 90s all had their niche.
Brandy’s music shows great tone, a raspiness that reflects youth and depth at the same time and a great low voice on the list with Anita and Toni. Monica music has the most power of the 3. People would often say Monica sounded the best because they judged on her power alone, and Aaliyah had a great head voice. She was also excellent at emoting. Her emotions came through on her songs which is missing from lots of singers today even with the biggest range. And people DO remember Aaliyah’s voice as such, which is why one of her most popular songs is “At Your Best” for her high voice. Line 5 popular singers up today and have them do “let me know, let me knowwww, ooooohhhhhooo” they couldn’t. Beyonce would use vibrato, Christina would add extra runs, Brandy would take it low and riff it, etc. All of them being great singers (1 or 2 of them being great vocalist) but they are all different and only Aaliyah could do Aaliyah.
I wish Trent would just remove this comment box, too many of you get emotional over a website. It is his site so he can say whatever he wants. There wasn’t shade but if there was then it HIS opinion, on HIS post on HIS site? Get it?
The song is nothing but ‘ok’ nothing more nothing less, to be honest Drake should just leave it alone. None the less, its “ok”.
THE END -
idk why some of you are so surprised by Trent’s shade even after Whitney died he was still shading her. I love the song now after the first listen I thought it was okay but it really grew on me. Aaliyah’s voice was really beautiful you don’t have to be a powerhouse vocalist to be considered a great singer, she was one of the few people with soft voices that could actually sing.
Really, Trent….the shade throwing at artist vocal ability is getting old. Clearly, nobody cares about whether you have 1 octave or 10 anymore…and to diss a deceased woman is just…smh…but hey opinions are like assholes right?
