New Song: Melanie Amaro – ‘Don’t Fail Me Now’

Melanie Amaro’s ‘Don’t Fail Me Now’ single cover.

The wait is finally over for fans of Melanie Amaro as the first ‘The X Factor (US)’ winner has released her new song, ‘Don’t Fail Me Now’. However, the track serves two purposes: it is the young singers debut single and it also signals the start of the diva summer showdown!

Shockingly, Amaro has taken the Dance music route with ‘Don’t Fail Me Now’, which was reportedly produced by Darkchild. Hence, the song now lands her in direct competition with Christina Aguilera, who has teamed with Max Martin for a similar uptempo tune, due later in August.

Listen to Amaro’s ‘Don’t Fail Me Now’ below:

It is quite surprising to hear Amaro basically singing the Vanessa Carlton ‘A Thousand Miles’ version of Nicki Minaj’s ‘Starships’. Honestly, what was the purpose of the included Dance breaks that distrupted the flow of the entire song. This song has a strong chance to be a hit but will Amaro be able to sell albums with a Dance-themed lead single?

Vocally, however, Amaro is in fantastic form on ‘Don’t Fail Me Now’ and she sounded strikingly similar to Jordin Sparks. She is clearly a Mariah Carey fan and despite the cliche Dance production, it is still refreshing to hear a powerhouse singer on the radio again. You know, other than Jennifer Hudson in those damn Weight Watchers commercials.

[...] Honestly dont have much to say about the song apart from its very disappointing. Shes gone for the dance route alongside EVERYONE else. The track is just so bland, this is like a filler on an album. Mariah Carey is dropping a single tomorrow and this song will be forgotten easily. Its such a shame as this girl can sing sooo good, why have they given her this generic trash? eurgh whatever. Click to listen to the track here [...]

So, is THIS why Cher Lloyd has become such a priority, since she’s gotten this inferior bland single. I wonder if this was done on purpose. This sounds like a Leona Lewis leftover.

This between Kelly Clarkson and Rihanna. Too weird for pop, too corny for the Club. Autotuned Britney would do better with this song.

What do you expect when your idol is Mariah. A friend of mine who works in engineering has claimed to have heard Triumphant and said he was not pleased

Simon doesn’t know what to do with her obviously, this song is okay and will get some play, but not enough to boost her career/popularity. Her team needs to get it together if she going to be the star she has the talent to be

Honestly, whether we like it or not, this is what is striking right now on the charts. It could possibly gain her a top 20, and with the proper promotion (which she most likely will get) an easy top 10 because the generation that listens to today’s music WILL buy it (look at all of the other dance themed songs from Where Have You Been to Starships to any Flo Rida/Pitbull type of club song with a dance break)

I don’t know alot about Dance music. Her vocals are strong throughout the song. The production seems to have too much going on to me. Maybe she should go with a dance music producer instead of Rodney Jerkins. I hope she drops another single before her album drops that blends genres. I’m not sure this single will do what she needs to sell albums.
