When Jay-Z rapped about making it in America he certainly wasn’t joking because his business ventures have earned him a slot among the highest-earning Hip-Hop acts on the 2012 Forbes Cash Kings ranking. However, on a lineup featuring Dr. Dre, Kanye West and Diddy, who came out on top?
Dr. Dre has been crowned as the highest-earning Hip-Hop act of the last year with revenue exceeding $110 million. He is one of only two rappers – the other being 50 Cent – to earn over $100 million since 2007, all thanks to the sale of part of his Beats by Dre company to HTC.
Following Dr. Dre on the 2012 Forbes Cash Kings list were Diddy, who raked in $45 million, Jay-Z with $38 million and Kanye West with $35 million. The ubiquitous Young Money members were scattered lower on the ranking with Lil Wayne at #5 ($27 million), Drake at #6 ($20.5 million) and Nicki Minaj at #8 ($15.5 million).
