Did you know that Frank Sinatra’s ‘Theme from New York, New York’ is actually a cover?
The ‘Theme from New York, New York’ was originally written by Fred Ebb for the 1977 classic film ‘New York, New York’ and performed by stage icon Liza Minnelli. The song was later covered by Sinatra for his own ‘Trilogy: Past Present Future’ album in 1980.
Notably, ‘Theme from New York, New York’ was Sinatra’s final top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 and he died on May 14th 1998. Watch Minnelli and Sinatra perform their versions of the song below:
