Did you know that the late 1980s hit ‘All Around the World’ was originally recorded by Lisa Stansfield?
Although the later rearranged duet version of ‘All Around the World’ featuring Barry White was quite popular, the original cut of the tune was performed by by a solo Stansfield. Unsurprisingly, many people assumed that she was a black woman because of her vocals, which were strikingly similar to those of Patti LaBelle.
That confusion regarding Stansfield’s voice may have contributed to crossover ‘All Around the World’, which peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Watch the video for the song below:
