Nelly Furtado clearly hasn’t gotten the memo that her single ‘Big Hoops (Bigger the Failure)’ has been a commercial failure. Proving that she is completely out of touch with her target audience, the singer wasted a major promotional appearance on ‘Red or Black’ to perform the song yet again.
‘Big Hoops’ peaked at a lukewarm #14 on the Official UK Singles Chart before losing momentum. Meanwhile, its followup, ‘Spirit Indestructible’, has yet to make a dent on the ranking. Furtado’s ‘The Spirit Indestructible’ album will arrive in the UK on September 14th.
Watch Furtado waste time and money on her extravagant ‘Red or Black’ performance below:
How is she out of touch with her target audience? Do you KNOW who her target audience is? If it was the usual top 40 crowd she would have made an album of shitty dance flops that would be commercial hits, Nelly isn’t here for that.
Exactly, i agree. I’m really checking for this album too.
People are always trying to justify failure. I doubt Nelly Furtado put this song out expecting it to flop, so she’s clearly out of touch with her audience.
@Unbothered obviously all artists want to sell album (which Nelly undoubtedly will, although maybe not on “Loose” scale) but some artists just make music because they love to and the sales are secondary (like Nelly) while others create music designed to gain sails (people like Gaga / Nicki / Katy / Rihanna ) etc…
If Nelly was sales orientated she would not be making this kind of music but then again she was never a “pop” kind of artist besides “Loose” so to lump her into that category like she should be churning out top 40 smashes left and right is dumb.
