New Song: Alicia Keys – ‘Girl On Fire (Inferno) (Ft. Nicki Minaj)’

Alicia Keys’ ‘Girl on Fire (Inferno) (Ft. Nicki Minaj)’ single cover.

Alicia Keys’ new song, ‘Girl on Fire’, is expected to hit the airwaves tomorrow (September 4th) but one of the various versions of the song have already surfaced online. That’s right, the highly anticipated Inferno edition of the tune, which features Nicki Minaj, is now available for your streaming pleasure.

Tomorrow, the original and Blue Light versions of ‘Girl on Fire’ will officially be released. Keys will then perform one of those mixes of song at the 2012 MTV VMA on September 6th. Listen to the Inferno mix of ‘Girl on Fire’ below:

Basically, Keys took the major drum elements of her own ‘Try Sleeping with a Broken Heart’, added a less than impressive pair of verses from Minaj and yelled sang ‘Girl on Fire’ in full voice. Those are the only major differences between this song and the material included on her last album, ‘The Element of Freedom’, so where is the new sound that she promised?

Still, ‘Girl on Fire’ could still enjoy airplay across both Rhythmic and Urban radio. It is a shame, however, that Keys didn’t keep ‘New Day’ as her own single instead of letting 50 Cent use it for his project because it is far stronger than this track. Yes, ‘New Day’ was originally recorded for 50 Cent it was a bit silly to let that banger get away.

I like Alicia Keys but I wasn’t feeling this …not feeling nicki at all…idk why artists feel they have to have nicki minaj on their songs….oh well…it was only so much yelling I could take from Ms. Keys

I’m rooting for Alicia…..b/c that last album the element of bullshit I was not feeling at all! This sounds like try sleeping with a broken heart pt 2. Now……i wanna hear this soulful sound she said she was gonna give us. Cuz clearly she can throw this track back in the fucking fire.

Disappointed, not only was the production too familiar but the writing on the track is terrible. Alicia seriously need to work on filling up verses through other means then drawing out her notes and by going “Ohhhhh”…

Where the production is concerned, It had potential until the piano entered the mix and the progression from that point onward was negative.

Alici really needsto sit up, whats with all this oooooh nonsense on all her songs, does she realise she is just destroying her hard earned reputation as a musician. This is nothing to write home about.

the song is good, not amazing but i am here and living for the harmonised chorus!! Im not here for the minor chord vocals and minaj was weak….. not the best opening single

Alicia Keys gets a girl bye for this song!
I haven’t been here for her since she stopped singing within her range and getting voice lessons. But other than that, she keeps making songs about the same thing with weak lyrics. You would think with all that drama in her life she could come with something more inspired than this crap. That beat was recycled. I haven’t heard progression from her since the As I Am and lord knows even that album had major flaws. I never thought I would say this but I’m considering not buying this new Alicia Keys album.

Alicia is such a cornball now, well the only thing good about her is that she is PG13. She never puts a toxic message in her song but I think the keyz-beats association is very redundant and boring
Same pianos chords, same programmed drum sounds, loads of wooohooo and a theme about either LOVE, FIRE, EVERTHING, SKY, HIGH… over and over again. I think she didn’t think this record through enough and most importantly her lyrics have not evolved. She is like Beyonce she is stuck in one place.

Having Nicki on a middle 8 isn’t a new sound. it’s cute but back to the dra3ing board Alicia. I want songs about her gritty upbringing in nyc or her life of being the ‘other woman’

This is one song, that probably doesn’t mean her entire album will be this way. She has a beautiful tone, she does not have to overdue. The pushing the vocals makes things hard to listen to. Nicki was unnecessary.

It sounds kinda similar to “TSWABH”, but not exactly.

Why do idiots always bring Mariah into this, she has nothing to do with anything. Her song is very melodic and flows very well.

I actually liked this. I’m amazed on how people are dissing Nicki but like that trash and just as animated bs that Azalea Banks put out. Anywhooo… A. Keys has her own sound. Like Brandy has hers, like Mariah has hers and like Adele has hers. I accept that and thay is how I enjoy her music. Her lyrics are powerful and metaphorical. And Nicki did the damn thing. Its not all the time we see a vulnerable Nicki and it was nice to hear. I love it

Lets bring Mariah into this….even on her worst day she sounds better than this. Mariah takes time and effort in recording her music. Alicia is sounding like she recorded this with a Fisher Price recorder in one take! Always re do the bad vocals Alicia :/ unless yiuve did that on purpose…??? lol

if people actually listen to the song ,b4 posting a cooment they will see its a gr8 song , videos do change people’s minds about a song , so my suggestion is wait till da vid comes out …. one thing i do also realize this sitehas nothing positive to say about nicki minaj { why most of the time h8 is thrown her way } …….

Shudders at the thought of Christina and Alicia doing a live duet. All women and children must be kept inside safely if that tragedy was ever to occur.
