Rihanna has finally returned to the music scene! Wait, did she even leave long enough to take a pee break? Regardless of whether she’s been in your face consistently for the last seven years, the world’s current leading Pop star has released a new song called ‘Diamonds’ that has already been launched into power rotation at radio stations across the globe.
Written by Sia and produced by Stargate, ‘Diamonds’ the lead single from Rihanna’s seventh studio album in seven years. However, new music isn’t the only item on her agenda. Rihanna has already announced the dates of her ‘Diamonds World Tour’, which will kickoff in March 2013 (click here to see the list of dates).
Listen to Rihanna’s ‘Diamonds’ song below:
Rihanna was understandably trying her best to add more weight to her voice with the way she sang ‘Diamonds’ but her voice sounded utterly forced throughout the song. In fact, the result was a strange mixture of Whitney Houston and Sia (two names that obviously look a lot better together on paper, judging by Rihanna’s singing on this track).
Still, I appreciate that Rihanna took a different approach with ‘Diamonds’ and at least tried to step out of the box. Many people predicted another ode to Dance music but she geared the tempo down and did something somewhat unexpected. If only she would develop a better understanding of her voice and learn how to use it like an instrument of music instead of Bajan flying fish that leaves a bad taste in people’s mouths.
