    New Song: Rihanna – ‘Diamonds’

Written by TriniTrent | Filed under Rihanna

The single cover of Rihanna’s new song, ‘Diamonds’.

Rihanna has finally returned to the music scene! Wait, did she even leave long enough to take a pee break? Regardless of whether she’s been in your face consistently for the last seven years, the world’s current leading Pop star has released a new song called ‘Diamonds’ that has already been launched into power rotation at radio stations across the globe.

Written by Sia and produced by Stargate, ‘Diamonds’ the lead single from Rihanna’s seventh studio album in seven years. However, new music isn’t the only item on her agenda. Rihanna has already announced the dates of her ‘Diamonds World Tour’, which will kickoff in March 2013 (click here to see the list of dates).

Listen to Rihanna’s ‘Diamonds’ song below:

Rihanna was understandably trying her best to add more weight to her voice with the way she sang ‘Diamonds’ but her voice sounded utterly forced throughout the song. In fact, the result was a strange mixture of Whitney Houston and Sia (two names that obviously look a lot better together on paper, judging by Rihanna’s singing on this track).

Still, I appreciate that Rihanna took a different approach with ‘Diamonds’ and at least tried to step out of the box. Many people predicted another ode to Dance music but she geared the tempo down and did something somewhat unexpected. If only she would develop a better understanding of her voice and learn how to use it like an instrument of music instead of Bajan flying fish that leaves a bad taste in people’s mouths.

Not her another #1 hits, but missin her sing ballads, love this one

    • Nesse

      Rihanna sounds like Willow Smith
      SMH

    • MyCooL

      That gif>>>>>>>>>
She sounds really weird on ‘Diamonds’. I’m over these repetitive choruses in songs..

    • LK

I actually I like it and I usually hate her songs when they first come out. It is different from her. Its not a lot of that crazy stuff she has. It is pretty positive from her.

    • olivia

i can tell sia did this not a bad thing not feeling the way rih keep saying shine bright like a diamond kinda annoying other than that it’s okay i like wfl better

    • Michael

Damn she got you maddd. And she’s seems to only be leaving you with a bad taste in your mouth, them 11 #1′s say otherwise.

    • pineapple

i think this is a great song for HER. i give it a solid 8. her instrument is not the strongest, but i actually hear the vocal improvement in this track, especially in the runs at the end.

also, i’m glad she’s working with sia, perhaps it will help her grow as an artist.

will it go to #1 across the globe, i highly doubt it…maybe somewhere in some random european country, and in barbados, of course.

i predict it goes to the top 10 at best and top 30 at least.

however…i’m already dreading the horrifying live performance of this song.

    • Girrrl

Its not my fave Rihanna single but I’m here for it. So far Ciara and Brandy had the best debut singles this year. Alicia Keys and Mariah had the worst.

    • Mike

This is very boring. Not sure if radio will pick up on this tbh. Maybe if Adele was singing it or someone else, but this is more second single material rather than lead single.

    • Ugh

      I like it. it’s okay

    • sr85

Nothing to go crazy over, but she sounds different. This song will do well like the majority of her singles do.

    • Oh Please

I’ll wait for the next single….im HIGHLY disappointed

    • Fit-Ologist

She prays to Satan and this is what she gets in return? Get your soul back girl, this is a horrible song

      • huds

        hahahahaahahahhaaha

    • shine bright like a diamond

i can see your still mad about mariah’s career being over.

    • BreezyStan_

@shine bright like a diamond i see your mad bc your fave could never reach Mariah’s level.

      This is just okay…it won’t be her 12th #1….BYE

    • Naudia

I like it, and I appreciate her efforts to try something different. God knows I can’t wait for this awful dance-pop faze to be over.

    • …

R.I.P to dance pop/electro. You know we about to enter a new era of music when rihanna is no longer on the trend. I’m glad it’s coming to an end

    • MmmHmm

UGH I LOVE RIHANNA AND ALL BUT, IM TIRED OF HER CONSTANTLY BEING EVERYWHERE SPECIALLY IN RADIO, SHE SHOULD TAKE A LONG BREAK, & I AGREE W/TRENT, SHE SOUNDED FORCED…

    • larry

Trent! I have no idea where you got the comparison of Whitney, Sia, Jazz etc loool
but this is probz the best Riri has sounded in a long time, how her voice is getting (better) i have no idea! She needs to develop it more so its solid and not being forced on the higher power notes but it has elements and layers other than her trash of TTT!
She needs to take time away though ffs we aint ready for all this

    • theman

It’s a decent song, atleast she stepped outside of the box. It’s so good that she’s going in a different directions. Her vocals were better as well.

    • Jasanti

The song was good enough for me to download. I love James’s like this. I’m a sucker for heavy-slow beats. But nothin compares Lady Haha new song “Cake Like Lady Gaga”. That stopping is super dope

    • JohnVidal(RIP Whitney-truegreat)

Horrible. I mean it is nothing new, it´s repetitive… and the worst thing… Rihanna can´t sing, she is absolutely boring when trying to do a song which is not dance. And the only thing with which she contributes in her songs is her voice and nothing else so… a zero again from me

    • olly_tei

I think she was trying to play with her diction and give it an interesting, almost british twist. But its forced and in fact it sounds like a poor imitation of Lady Gaga’s “Bloody Marry”

I’m not impressed but I dislike We Found Love at first, but now acknowledge it as a pop classic. I’ll see if this grows on me.

    • MC

I don’t like it. I thought it was boring and her voice sounded weird.

    • JustMe_Andria

I would love to hear Sia sing this; her voice is beautiful. Anyway, Diamonds isn’t a horrible single but it still needs to grow on me.

    • Liberiangirl

      No, I don’t like

    • bre

hm, i have mix feelings about this song. i can imagine it on the radio, but skip it when i hear it come on. but i’m glad she’s going a new direction in her music.

    • Impressed

I genuinely think this is the best she has sounded… like ever. She wasn’t blessed with powerhouse vocal chords and she has yet to really understand how to use her instrument but remember the girl takes drugs and smokes and parties non-stop and has ver vocal lessons via SKYPE! For someone who doesn’t take care of herself she is SLAYING and improving. I think this song is beautiful. Sia Furler is a fantastic songwriter and the melody is simply stunning.

All the nay-sayers should perhaps stop and appreciate the lyrics. It’s great that Rih always brings us a new sound. I agree, her diction is odd… a bit forced but hey ho. This is not the kind of thing I ever expected from her and I am pleasantly surprised. I’ve had it on loop for hours and I am NOT bored!

    • Impressed

She also works as hard as she parties! She is EVERYWHERE!

    • Kayla

Why do these delusional Rihanna fans always try to come for Mariah? That has to be the strangest combination ever! Mariah and Rihanna in the same sentence? Really? I don’t care if Rihanna eclipses Mariah twice with number singles, she will never be able to touch Mariah, PERIOD! Not then, not now, not EVER. Didn’t Rhianna sing a Mariah Carey song for one of her auditions? Yeah Rihanna knows whats up! Mariah is the epitome of a well rounded artist. She is a powerhouse vocalist with a 5 octave range (dubbed “Songbird Supreme” by the Guinness book of world records) and writes her own material ( was just honored for her songwriting skills) Rihanna aint never seeing that. Mariah is one of the best to ever do it. She has a legacy and is a legend, point period blank. Michael Jordan’s success did not last forever but he is one of the greatest because he set the bar high. This bubble gum crap that’s out these days and yall Rihanna fans crunk because she got some number one’ s under her belt. Look at Rihanna’s complete body of music collectively. Child bye! Rihanna is on the par of Britney Spears when it comes to singing. Lists all the women vocalists and Rihanna ranks on the bottom of the totem pole. She stays being accused of stealing writing credits and you want to put her and Mariah in the same sentence? Don’t make me laugh!

    • Liberiangirl
