Chris Brown and Frank Ocean are completely different artists but they do have one thing in common – US album sales. That’s right, despite their latest records being released weeks apart and both holding different slots on the charts, Brown and Ocean’s sales totals are now almost identical.
Brown’s ‘Fortune’ album was issued first on July 3rd and has sold 295.6K copies in the US to date. The LP, which was ranked at #31 on this week’s Billboard 200 chart with just over 10K copies in sales, has thus far generated a pair of top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 – ‘Turn Up the Music’ (#10) and ‘Don’t Wake Me Up’ (#24).
However, Ocean is hot on Brown’s heels with his own ‘channel ORANGE’ debut album (released July 17th). The set actually leapfrogged ‘Fortune’ on the Billboard 200 this week, thanks to Ocean’s performance at the 2012 MTV VMA, and climbed from #45 to #21. Additionally, the included song ‘Thinkin’ About You’ vaulted from #78 to #39 on the Hot 100 for a new chart peak.

Listen to Ocean’s ‘Thinkin’ About You’ below:
I really find his music boring. This could have been a much better song. The thing is, he comes across as an emotional person but his voice is so emotionless. It just sounds dull. Nice falsetto though! That added some sunshine to the track and stopped me from closing the page!
@ Matthew, there’s another version of the song sung by Bridget Kelly. You might like that one better because he wrote it for her but then went on to release his own version.
I can’t with Frank, he’s so boring.
This article makes no sense and says nothing of consequence. What does any of this mean? What exactly are you trying to tell your readers?
@DOMOdotSCORE Thanks! I’ll probably look into it. But as I’m so avoiding this whole Frank Ocean Band Wagon I’m trying to not peek too much into his stuff so I don’t get completely turned off!
