US Charts: Nicki Minaj’s ‘Roman Reloaded’ Sells 5K Copies

The US charts have not been kind to Nicki Minaj in 2012 and the embarrassment that the rapper has had to endure during the last few months continued this week. Specifically, her ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’ album sold only 5K copies during the last frame and continued to near the exit of the Billboard 200.

‘Roman Reloaded’ tumbled to #78 on the Billboard 200 this week after selling a shabby 5K copies in the US. Since being released in the US on April 3rd, the album has yielded a total of 658K copies in sales, despite being supported by the 5th highest-selling single of 2012 to date, ‘Starships’.

Although it only peaked at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100, ‘Starships’ has sold an impressive 3.7 million downloads as Minaj’s 2nd best-selling single as a lead artist, behind only ‘Super Bass’. Meanwhile, the Pop radio followup to ‘Starships’, ‘Pound the Alarm’, continues to climb the Hot 100 and landed at #17 this week.

Unfortunately for Minaj, however, the lead single from her ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up’, ‘The Boys’, was nowhere near as successful as its predecessors. The song, which features Cassie, sold a humble 25K copies this week and completely missed a slot on the Hot 100.

See the leading releases in the top 10 of both Billboard 200 and the Hot 100 below:

Her new single just came out man get real, your starting to sound like a misguided blogger… is it because she’s sitting on the panel with MC?

    • Yeah.

@Nelz91 FFS, I wish people would stop bringing MC into everything Trent says! He always writes posts on what’s happening with the US charts so why is he now a ‘misguided blogger’ because he done a post on Nicki?

    • Yami

      …..a thumbz-up on Starship song

    • ML

Come on, Trent. Can you be less Nicki obsessed? Why don’t you post her ranking on the hip hop charts?
Also, there was a period in the summer during her transition between singles where she was selling 6k a week. Why make this a news story. She still is the top selling rap artist this year. I don’t think the song with Cassie is the best song for her but a #78 ranking for an album that has been out for almost 6 months is nothing to throw stones at. Did you press the issue about your girl Mimi not even debut with Triumphant. At 78 she has 122 spots to exit the Billboard 200. Seriously, post real newsorthy Nicki news.

    • Girrrl

The real shade is that Carly girl had the biggest single of the year and her album debuted at #86. And where the fuck is Neloy

    • redsimba

What does Mariah have to do with this? Off topic much lol?

    • truthteller

Well maybe flopping may cause her ego to deflate alittle and maybe shell put out better music…..I doubt it though…to put out “good” music you have to have musical talent….btw if this is underperforming imagine how the rerelease will do…

    • LoveLiveLife

Trent, I don’t quite understand your ridiculous obsession with Ms. Minaj. You act as if she outed you in High School. She is the highest selling Trinidadian-born artist of all-time.

    • LoveLiveLife

Trent, I don’t quite understand your ridiculous obsession with Ms. Minaj. You act as if she outed you in High School or she personally shaded you or something. I’m not a fan of hateful blogging so thank you for the posts but I will not be returning here. Good luck with everything.

    • Hi

She’s lucky they pulled strings for her to get into American idol cause if it weren’t for that she would be falling into obscurity so fast to the point of no return lol

    • Ms. Boss

@LoveLiveLife Nicki is not the top Trini artist of all time. Billy Ocean sold WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY more than her. Yeah you should leave and take your ignorance with you.

    • Benron (King Of The Navy)

Poor nicki, and she has a new album out in like november!

    • JC

don’t you haters got cock to blow? Nicki’s album did better than alot of rapppers. she’s on top and i’m sorry to inform you that she’s not getting down anytime soon….

    • HER.

I don’t see how Trent is ‘hating’ by writing a post on her sales this week. Her sales are not the first he’s written about. Blogging about sales is part of what he does. Every time Trent writes about an artist in a way people don’t like he gets labelled as obsessed or a hater. How is he a hater for pointing out her sales? Maybe if her fans went out and bought the album instead of making ignorant comments like ”She is the highest selling Trinidadian-born artist of all-time” then her sales would be higher.

Oh & stop coming with the ‘Triumphant flopped’ lines everytime you don’t like something Trent says. Everyone already knows that it flopped but it still won’t change the fact Nicki only sold 5K albums this week.

    • Unbothered

Wow, the stans REEEEEACH for these “stats” they give her. Is it so hard to just admit that she’s underperforming?

    • http://twitter.com/dee_93 Dee

ANY EXCUSE to bash nicki huh Trent? I would love to know what exactly is yours and everyones problem with her? Okay I get that everyone has their own musical preferences.. but to say that she has no talent is bullshit. YOU ALL KNOW she can rap.. you just dont like her music. So you dont have to be so fucking ignorant and rude.. just dont listen to her music if you dont like it. Listen to the music YOU LIKE. It’s a real simple concept. And as for her outfits and her eccentric personality.. gaga does it! But i guess for her its fine right? Steppin out in raw meat dresses and vomiting on stage is cool yeah? Get a fucking grip.

    • theman

Nicki’s songs are hits but she’s still underperforming, and that’s because she has alinated her hardcore hiphop fans. The pop songs only appeal to the pop crowd. That’s why she’s rereleasing her album so that she can sale a million copies, which will make her sales seem great. Her album sales are decent. But her ego is what really has gotten out of control.

    • theman

alienated. She isn’t what she perceives herself to be, she’s huge for a sec, but overall she doesn’t have the clout that she presumes she does.

    • BlairWaldorf2013

You young people wouldn’t know a GOOD Female MC/rapper if you tried. You can’t help it because you have been born in an era of pure lyrical stupidity. Nicki is not cool, she ain’t warm, and she’ll never really be hot. Stop trying to go in on Trent for pointing out Nicki’s lack of importance.

In my opinion anyone calling themselves a Barbie who isn’t the same age as that girl on Ellen’s show needs to have a seat.

    • derrickBR

Nicki Minaj is the shit and i for one can not wait for her to release her next record. your opinions about her don’t matter. You haters at the bottom of the barrel scraping, while Nicki’s out in LA, at the American Idol taping. HA!!!!!

    • pineapple

Trent is just speaking the facts, people. Don’t get so emotional about it

    • ML

He did acknowledge that her pop songs are doing well. To me, what is the point of this thread. I understand the reviews of her songs or new news. It’s just saying that her album is selling 5k which is sold that much in the summer time as well.
Pineapple-i don’t think ppl are getting emotional it’s just a transparent post that makes people question his reasoning.
Blair Wardorf-I don’t know whether to feel bad for you or prove you wrong but if you are acknowledging that you are old then I guess that’s joke writes itself.
      the man- good points
unbothered- underperforming and flopping are two different things…even at her underperforming moment, she still is the top selling rap artist this year and has her album and single ranked top 10 for the year…so far. There’s still time for artist to knock her out of the top 10, though.

    • Sheen

Not surprised, she can sell singles but she sure can’t sell albums like a true artist.

    • Nelz91

@Yeah I dont usually comment on this Site, however, his constant whining about Nicki not fitting in on AI is getting tiring when the truth is he is just mad she’s on the panel with Mariah… He will deny it but that’s the truth. This post is transparent he just threw in a few good comments to fool yall

    • http://vanity-unfair.tumblr.com/ FauxKingLuke
