J. Cole has a message for his fans and he presents in the form of a new song called ‘Miss America’. Serving as the lead single from the Roc Nation star’s upcoming ‘Born Sinner’ album, the track will be available on iTunes tomorrow (November 13th).
‘Born Sinner’ will arrive in stores on January 28th 2013. Yet, will it be as successful as its ‘Cole World: The Sideline Story’ predecessor? Is ‘Miss America’ as commercial as J. Cole’s platinum hit ‘Work Out’? Listen to the song below to find out:
Lyrically, J. Cole is in a fine form as usual and proves that he is one of the few serious rappers left in the Hip-Hop game. However, the chances of ‘Miss America’ developing into a hit without the hype generated by the prospect of new music from him would have been slim.
The only problem truly affecting J. Cole is that his talent doesn’t perfectly suit the current music climate. In fact, this is a similar issue that affected Nas throughout the last decade, and although it will garner J. Cole serious critical acclaim, matching the sales of the more commercial Drake is almost impossible.
Still, J. Cole deserves praise from bringing depth to Hip-Hop. In an era where most artists chase shallow hooks and catchy beats, his skill is quite refreshing. Plus, the lack of auto-tune in his songs is most welcomed!

released today, on iTunes tomorrow. J Cole just got here and he gets this schedule. how come Ciara’s songs aren’t released to iTunes til a month after we first hear them? how are some artists afforded a sensible schedule and others seem to have the worst schedules ever? i genuinely do not understand, can someone explain?
thanks guys,
pineapple
because his label stands behind his singles and are confident in his music. epic releases ciara’s singles to test the waters and see what works, waiting to see what will happen with each release. ain’t nobody checkin for her like that anymore… “sorry” coulda been big though.
Thank you so much for that explanation, e!
I LOVE THIS & THE FACT THAT ITS NOTHING LIKE THE MUSIC THAT IS PLAYED ON THE RADIO.
This track is DOPE!!! I think J. Cole can be a pioneer in bringing back the rawness to hip-hop. I think this is what we need in the game right now.
Him and Lupe don’t SEEM to be in it to be the “it” guys, like Drake. They want to make real music.
Cole world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
