Beyonce was initially asked to perform at the 2004 Super Bowl Halftime Show but she decided to sing the anthem instead. Why did the entertainer decline such a prestigious offer? She wanted to follow in the footsteps of one her childhood idols, Whitney Houston, who belted the most famous ‘Star Spangled Banner’ rendition in 1991.
