US Charts: Bruno Mars, T.I. & Mariah Carey Make Moves

The holiday season is generally known for several things: breaking our diets, spending time with annoying relatives and gift-giving. As a result of the last of those activities, music sales surge, and the moves on US charts by Bruno Mars, T.I. and Mariah Carey prove it.

Mars maintained a tight grip on the Billboard Hot 100 peak with “Locked Out of Heaven” this week while achieving a very impressive feat. The song has simultaneously topped that chart as well as the Hot 100 Airplay, Hot Digital Songs and On-Demand Songs tallies, thus becoming the first track in history to rule all four major lineups.

Over on the Billboard 200, T.I’s Trouble Man: Heavy is the Head has opened at #2 behind Taylor Swift’s Red album. The former sold 179K copies in its first frame and topped the 160K moved by T’I's previous effort, No Mercy, which has thus far sold 589K in the US since December 2010

Finally, Carey’s recurring hit “All I Want for Christmas is You” has climbed to a new peak on the Hot 100. After 18 years since its initial release, the song has vaulted to #21 on the ranking. Earlier this month, it reentered the Hot 100 for a then highest ever position at #29.
