Chrisette Michele moves to the beat of her own drum and does things on her own time. Indeed, instead of waiting to release a new song during the work week like regular artists, she chose to surprise her fans today with the premiere of her first Better album single, “A Couple of Forevers”.
Produced by Pop & Oak and written by Tiwa Savage and Wansel, “A Couple of Forevers” will be issued digitally on February 5th and impact radio on February 11th. Michele’s Better album, on the other hand, will arrive later on April 20th. Listen to the lead offering below:
Is “A Couple of Forevers” particularly radio-friendly? Unfortunately, the answer to that is negative. It will be very difficult for this record to excel on the airwaves with a bit more tempo but the beauty of Michele is that never chases radio success. She focuses on the quality of the music and “A Couple of Forevers” is a definite winner in that department.
The vocals on “A Couple of Forevers” are powerful yet Michele practices restraint when needed. Also, the lyrics and simple production are beautiful. At the very least, Michele will be a frontrunner at the 2014 Grammy Awards alongside Alicia Keys, as long as it doesn’t turn into the Beyonce show.
Thanks Billboard!
