Swedish House Mafia’s “Don’t You Worry Child” was one of the biggest club hits of 2012 so it was quite clever for Dawn Richard to cover the song and ride the group’s wave of success. However, instead of matching the original composition, she rearranged it and brought new meaning to the tune.
Backed by a simple piano and wearing what appeared to be her neighbour’s cat, Richard passionately crooned the lyrics of “Don’t You Worry Child”. Naturally, her vocal styling sounded remarkably similar to that of her favourite singer, Brandy, with her use of slick runs and crescendo. Watch Richard’s impressive rendition below:
