John Legends gets caught off guard.

John Legend has been a driving force in R&B music for year but made only his first ever guest appearance on The Breakfast Club today. During the segment, the crooner discussed a range of topics, including his music, working with Kanye West, gay rumours and introduced his new artist, Stacy Barthe.

Speaking candidly about every issue raised by the controversial Breakfast Club hosts, Legend revealed that his longtime collaborator West has not produced his own beats in quite some time. However, that hasn’t stopped the Hip-Hop icon from still being indirectly involved in the creative process in a different regard.

Barthe also got the opportunity to share the spotlight with Legend as she sang an a cappella number that was striking reminiscent of Corinne Bailey Rae’s work. Watch their entire Breakfast Club spot below:
