Will Mariah Carey ever finish her new album? That’s the question that is currently burning the minds of her fans she continues to place the final touches on the record, which is due later this year. For her latest addition to the set, the diva enlisted Darkchild and Jermaine Dupri for what she termed “a real R&B moment.”
It’s wrong to rush perfection but Carey’s fans are justifiably anxious as they wait for her latest studio offering. She started writing and recording material for the project in 2010, before being sidetracked by her pregnancy and opting to put forward her second Holiday set, Merry Christmas II You, instead.
Since that time, Carey has worked with numerous major songwriters and producers, including The-Dream, Bryan-Michael Cox, Johnta Austin, Big Jim Wright, Randy Jackson, Hit-Boy and R. Kelly. Additionally, she completely a new song with the legendary Q-Tip, with whom she co-wrote the hit song “Honey” in 1997, which reportedly features an impressive vocal performance.
Yet, there is still no projected release date for the album. Carey initially toyed with a November 2012 debut but after “Triumphant (Get ‘Em) (Ft. Meek Mill)” failed to chart on the Billboard Hot 100, those plans were scrapped. Then, she aimed for March and eventually May yet she still hasn’t issued a new single to radio.
Perhaps Carey is biding her time with this album because she understands that if it fails then her career would suffer a major blow. Still, it would be nice for her to at least share concrete information so that people would remain mildly interested in the project.
