When it was first announced that the 2013 Billboard Music Awards will honor the legendary Prince, I immediately picked Miguel as the prime candidate to help celebrate his legacy. Well, guess what? Miguel has been named among the performers for the show!

Miguel will join Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars as entertainers for this year’s Billboard Music Awards. Airing live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas via ABC at 8pm ET on May 19th, the ceremony will present Prince with the prestigious Icon Award for his incomparable contributions to the music industry and life in general.

Although Prince is expected to perform his own tribute, the segment will probably include a guest act as it did at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards when Alicia Keys aided in honoring Stevie Wonder. Tickets for this year’s show will be available on April 4th at 1pm ET via MGM Grand and Ticketmaster locations.
