Mariah Carey whispers in the breeze.

We can always depend on Mariah Carey’s crafty fans to make it happen. Last evening, the iconic singer taped a performance that will air during the American Idol season finale later today and although cameras weren’t allowed in the building, the lambs’ version of the CIA snuck a recording device onto the set to capture all the action.

Carey belted a 7-minute medley of some of her biggest hits, including “Vision of Love”, “Make it Happen” and “Hero”, before ending with a short Miguel-free rendition of “#Beautiful”. The last of those songs debuted at #24 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week as Carey’s 45th entry on the chart to date.

Jennifer Lopez is also expected to perform her latest single, “Live it Up”, with Pitbull on American Idol this evening but her showing will reportedly be live. Well, as live as she can be with her backtrack. As we wait for the big night, listen to audio of Carey’s hits medley below:
