Mary J. Blige twinkles like the north star.

Mary J. Blige has put her plans for the second act of her My Life II album on hold so that she can focus on something even more interesting. Sliding down your chimney with a bag of presents and a fresh hair weave this holiday season will be our favourite Hip-Hop/Soul diva, spreading cheer with A Mary Christmas.

Including duets with Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony and even Barbra Streisand on the song “When You Wish Upon a Star”, A Mary Christmas is expected to hit stores in the fall. However, Blige hasn’t completely given up on My Life II. Rather, she will take the material in a different creative direction with a new theme and title.

“We’re in the process of beginning that,” explained Blige. “I’ve already come up with the title and started writing songs. For me, I have to be living what I’m saying. I have to be around what I’m writing about. Sometimes if a word comes to mind, you have to type it down into your Blackberry or on a piece of paper so you don’t forget it, but that’s the only thing that happens on the fly.”
