Did you know that Scott Storch contributed material to some of the most successful albums of the last decade?
Formerly a member of The Roots, Storch launched his career as a producer and songwriter in the 1990s, and he eventually rose to the forefront of the music scene as one of the industry’s most prolific hit-makers. Both on his own and in collaboration Dr. Dre, the mastermind helped to define the sound of Hip-Hop, Pop and R&B throughout the 2000s.
Among the artists who worked with Storch were Eve (“Let Me Blow Ya Mind”), Mario (“Let Me Love You”), Lil Kim (“Lighters Up”), 50 Cent (“Candy Shop”), Chris Brown (“Run It”). He also co-wrote Justin Timberlake’s “Cry Me a River” and the produced several songs on Beyonce’s Dangerously in Love debut, such as “Baby Boy” and “Naughty Girl”.
However, Storch is probably best known for his work on Christina Aguilera’s Stripped classic. After being recruited by the singer, who was reportedly eager to recreate the sound of Pink’s Missundaztood – Storch co-produced “Family Portait” on the album – he created the songs “Walk Away”, “Fighter”, “Can’t Hold Us Down” and several other cuts on Stripped.
Storch’s success has since waned but we can remember the good old days by watching Aguilera belt his lyrics in “Walk Away” below:
